Young Love Novelinee for September 9th #dverse #poetry

Skipping, I go along my merry way
Gaining stride, I bounce, leave my town behind
Deeper still I prance winded by the day
That awoke resplendent, hadn't seen its kind.
Not a cloud in sight hides the rays from me
Nothing weighs my legs lest I trip & fall
Left cares behind, I am buoyed with glee
Oh, the thrill I feel when I reach the wall
To block my fall awaits my belov'd Paul.

Into his arms I fall— my belov'd Paul
Anoints me with kisses and tender quotes
Let's seize the day, I tell him more enthralled
He swings me up and plants me in the boat.
We row for long hours, let our dreams set sail
Until Sky turns orange and cobalt grey
With ease, we berth, smile for what it entailed
Few feet away stands the old Chevrolet
Smiling, we skip along our merry way.

September 9th calls for a “Novelinee,” they tell me at dVerse Poets Pub — MTB: Something Novel in Lines:

Since today is the 9th of the 9th month it is fitting for that numeral to inform today’s poetry form –  so let’s meet The Novelinee!

https://dversepoets.com/2021/09/09/mtb-something-novel-in-lines/

And I say, yup– Let’s Novelinee. Thanks, Laura.

It’s a new form for me, and I was audacious in attempting the two-stanza closed novelinee form that I present to you today. Not sure the iambic pentameter with alternate stresses works, but I share it anyway. Hope you enjoyed. Thanks.

This is a cheerful piece, Selma. I enjoyed these lines,
“Not a cloud in sight hides the rays from me
Nothing weighs my legs lest I trip & fall.”

It was. Yes. But we were also so full of ourselves. Now we know better. Life is a good teacher.
