Speak Louder To Me, November

Rose of Sharon drops
and the crickets grow quiet
in the moonlit night

Concerns over rain
no one sees Burchell’s Coucal —
fluting comes his call

“October knew, of course, that the action of turning a page,
of ending a chapter or of shutting a book, did not end a tale.
Having admitted that, he would also avow that happy endings
were never difficult to find: “It is simply a matter,” he explained
to April, “of finding a sunny place in a garden, where the light is
golden and the grass is soft; somewhere to rest, to stop reading,
and to be content.”

~ Neil Gaiman, Season of Mists

Thanks for reading my words for seasons in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
In my garden, it’s still October, the Rose of Sharon is gorgeous.

Here’s the first stanza of a lovely poem I read today. Please enjoy it.

Song
by John Keats [1795-1821]

1.
Hush, hush! tread softly! hush, hush my dear!
All the house is asleep, but we know very well
That the jealous, the jealous old bald-pate may hear.
Tho’ you’ve padded his nightcap — O sweet Isabel!
Tho’ your feet are more light than a Fairy’s feet,
Who dances on bubbles where brooklets meet. —
Hush, hush! soft tiptoe! hush, hush my dear!
For less than a nothing the jealous can hear.

(pg. 327)

Happy Friday, everyone.
I wish you miracles.

Beautiful rose of Sharon, Selma. The twin poems are so meaningful to me here. Tonight we return to Eastern Standard Time. An extra hour of sleep and probably fewer sunrises seen by me. <3 <3 <3
