Of Watched Kettles, Whereof, and Shallow Streams #dVerse

When you come close to the end of your rope
and circumstances have robbed you of hope
take a step back and remember your roots
next, take a look at the state of your boots

Ended south when you set to head northbound
reassess, come around, earth's your campground
get unstuck, drop the cynic, cross the stream
time hangs heavy when you're lost in bad dreams

There are reasons the path led you right here
when it seemed you had no recess to spare
so don't think for a second to skim it
go the mile, be simplistic, this minute

Proverbs at dVersePoetics: The Proverbial and I have a trio for you:
A Watched Kettle Never Boils
Every Why Has a Whereof
Cross The Stream Where It’s Shallowest

dVerse Prompt:
For this prompt, choose a proverb or a pair of proverbs.
Use them as you wish—as an epigraph or within the poem.
Be serious or funny. You can use one of the proverbs above
or choose one of your own. Yes, they are often clichés,
but that gives you a challenge to make your poem original,
right? 😀 Make certain you clearly state the proverb.

New? Here’s what to do:
Write a poem that incorporates a proverb in some way.
Make certain you state the proverb.
Post your poem on your blog.
Enter the link for that post (not your blog)
into Mister Linky.
Read and comment on others’ posts.

Lovely prompt, for which I am happy to participate. Thanks, dVerse.

Mmmmmm…a lot of food for thought here, Selma 🙂 And very good advice overall. So much calamity can be avoided by simply deciding to pause and reassess <3

    1. Selma Martin

Hi Selma! I enjoyed this serene and visual poem 🙂

I tried to message you through your contact form but didn’t hear back, so I hope you don’t mind me commenting here. I want to invite you to participate in a welcome week I’m hosting on my blog! I’m shooting for the last week of August. If you’d like to contribute, please send me a link to the post you’d like to share (poem, article- your choice) and a brief bio. I hope to hear from you soon! Take care.

    1. Selma Martin

      Markie, my sweets. Thanks.
About the contact form… Oh, no. So sorry about that. Some things are just out of my control. I have no notifications about someone trying to reach out And that just makes me sad– how much more am I missing? *cry*. Forgive, please.
By the end of August, my workload commitments should be getting lighter. So I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to participate. Yay! I’ll take a look over at your blog for details. And if it’s not up yet, and you need an email, please send to THAT ONE for newsletter. I will talk to you from there as soon as I’m done here.
Thanks for all you do, Markie. You rock!

Selma this sings like an anthemic credo and recipe for flipping the script on hard times. Very fun and would love to see it set to music.
