The Best Simulation Of What Parenting Children Is Like

I was blessed to raise two little boys who are now in their twenties. I don’t do much mother-ing anymore, but the fact that I’m still a mother qualifies me to write to tell you about the greatest joy I know. I hope that by the end of the post, you come to appreciate the analogy I make, or at best, you come to understand the beauty of something I so ardently recommend. Enjoy.

No Dream is too Small, so Keep Your Dreams Alive

People with dreams are beautiful. Do you have one you've been nourishing? Reality has its limitations, whereas your imagination is without limits. And precisely because it’s boundless comes the seedlings of a reality that longs to get out. Wilbur and Orville Wright had such a dream and it couldn't have been easy. Yet, they showed us how a desire to search the unknown using some ordinary ‘practical’ intelligence could get us to a good place. If they could, I can; if I could, you can too. Let me tell you what I did.

This Home Appliance Might be What you need to Ease House Dust

The state-of-the-art Powerball that my vacuum cleaner was never went underappreciated. It was my faithful companion for over a decade and a half-- with not a cough, not a hiccup to berate it for. I named her Allegri, and it did what her maker promised it’d do for me-- I saw a massive change in my son's health, gave me peace of mind, and saved me money on medical bills. Tell me, wouldn't you be grateful for something like this?

Bells as Reminder to Spread Goodwill

I grew up believing that bells are a reminder to spread goodwill. All bells. Did you hear any bells growing up? Did they go unnoticed, or did they symbolize something particular to you? What about last year? Did you hear the bells at year-end? In my area, no bells rang on New Year's Eve.

So You Want to Declutter– but How Do You Start?

Decluttering is not hard. But one has to distinguish between what's trivial and what's important according to the amount of attention or inattention one gives to things. Each person's capacity to derive importance from "clutter" translates to gratifying moments that matter to that individual. In short, what's trivial and what's important are whatever you make them out to be. If you're struggling to get started decluttering, here are two questions to help.

The Couple that Took Shelter in my Yard

Today, we saw the sun. And in my yard, I saw two snakes taking a shortcut through my yard. Oh my!  Here's a poem about those cheeky snakes that stopped me in my track. How do you feel about snakes? I'm not a fan, they scare the daylights out of me,  but I let them be. I hope these two find a home somewhere else. Right?

Memories Kept Alive to Remind me of Summers of Long Ago

In Belize, there is only one season. Hot. And when that’s all you know about you do not complain. I never complained. Never. But, as I got older I became curious when at the end of the year I started noticing a pattern. First came the migrating birds and shortly after the migrating tourists. They landed on our shores; their pale faces a sure indication that they weren’t getting enough sun.

Life is A Series of Struggles and Lulls

Take my current circumstances for example. Up until a few days ago, people loved me; today I feel that I’m their target. Up until a few days ago, I felt I was so-so, not bad -- an okay Writer. Today I feel like I’m a fraud, a failure. ... I was feeling rotten therefore I saw things muddled through my already muddled lenses.  I was a stinking dead fish.
