Universal Analytics Standard Properties

Hello friends. Can you see me? How I’m shaking? Oh no, not from the cold outside but from Google emails that keep coming, telling me they will stop processing data on July 1, 2023– To maximize historical data and to ensure that Google Analytics 4 (GA4) meets your (MY) specific needs.

What needs are they referring to? Can anyone out there explain this to me like I’m a six year old? Please. I’m shaking!

I have been questioning this on YouTube and got answers— one! So I went to my website and turned on Google Analytics. Yup, that’s the monster you will now find at the very bottom.

Doing that served to provide me with an Active website profile that starts with UA-xxx (stands for Universal Analytics).

But where do I indicate to Google that I am the owner of that UA number?

Are any of you, dear friends shaking too? WTH?! Why is Google so powerful? Disturbing my life like this?

I have THREE Google email addresses. And I’m lost as to what to do to appease the monster!

“For any customer who does not set up a GA4 property with basic settings, starting in March, we will configure one with a few basic settings consistent with the existing Universal Analytics property; this includes certain conversion events, Google Ads links, and existing website tags.” ~ Google.

Does anyone understand this? I’m at the end of my rope and worry mainly because I fret losing my website — which has become my lifeline to YOU.

I’d much rather be writing poems and thinking of other things. And I’ve ignored the emails for as long as I could. But now it’s almost March. Are you receiving these too? What you doing about it?!

Leave me a message here please. Thanks for giving me your attention. I bless you and wish some complicated things would just disappear 🫠 — what needs are they referring to? Help!

I have no idea what this means

In the Reader here on WP I found this: https://taliaaukemagray.com/home/blog/google-analytics-4-ga4/
      It explains things.
I’m not an analytics lady. Most of my affairs are lead by intuition.
In my pursuit to obtain that UA number I added plugin MonsterInsight to my website this week.
But it appears to me Google is bugging me about my three email addresses. And I don’t understand.
I thought you might get some insight about what Google’s doing from that TAG link I attached. Thanks for commenting. I bless you.

Thanks for sharing Selma. Will take a look. 🙏🏼💖

I wish I could help you with this, Selma, but I am pretty hopeless when it comes to Google Analytics and am not even sure I have mine set up correctly . . . your best bet would be to try and follow Google Analytics’ instructions for migration, if they have a step-by-step guide available . . . Best of luck! <3

    1. Selma Martin

I tried following the instructions but each click on an option revealed more options. Have you tried it, Layla. A deep dark rabbit hole. I don’t understand any of it.
I found this link in Reader. Under my post: https://taliaaukemagray.com/home/blog/google-analytics-4-ga4/
TAG wants readers to contact her. I won’t. But what she teaches is kinda enlightening. I thought of sharing. Bless you, Layla. Thanks for commenting. I feel a bit lighter now that one more person knows I’m struggling. TYVM. 🙏

    Color me clueless too! 🙁

Oh, dear, Selma, that sounds very odd to me. MonsterInsights is a website used for businesses and publishers to keep a check on their statistics. It’s a ‘plugin on WordPress. I came across it when researching how to write a book of my favourite blog posts (my own, not other peoples’, that is). This Monster thing came up, but I chose to ignore it. Have you checked the email address that this email was coming from? Is it a proper email address or one made up of odd letters (and sometimes numbers)? It could be a scam, so please check the email sender carefully. If in doubt, contact WP Support (the Happiness Engineers), who I’ve used a lot over the years. They are always so helpful and get back to you reasonably quickly. It doesn’t cost anything, either. I wish you lots of luck in sorting this out, my friend. Also, I Googled MonsterInsights and came up with this page from WP – https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/. It gives you more information about this topic there. Please, let me know how you get on. I hope this can be sorted out soon so that your mind can concentrate on your wonderful writing and poetry. Calming hugs for you. Xx 🌹💕

You know lots, Ellie. Thanks so much. Email looks legit. They comply with same protocol I adhere to in my newsletters. 😞
Why is email such a drag right now. I’m at a loss.
I found one useful blog. Check it out if it’s a concern. Or ignore all together my sweet. Here goes:

      Bless you.

I have no idea what that is. I checked my Blogger website. It has “Google Analytics Measurement ID”, but when I click on it, it’s empty. When you figure it out, please let me know.

Yve. My sweet. I’m still shaking but with less urgency.
I found this in the Reader — you know how WP presents us posts similar to ours at the bottom? I found this there. Sharing: https://taliaaukemagray.com/home/blog/google-analytics-4-ga4/

But what I still don’t grasp is why is Google asking me to add analytics to my emails? emails!
I don’t want to think about Google today. Thanks for supporting me by commenting. I feel heard. Thanks. You’ve made a world of difference to my state of mind. And heart. Bless you

It sounds like they will configure something for you with basic settings if you don’t respond which will probably meet your needs. Not real tech savvy myself though on analytics. I’d probably just ignore myself!

      1. Tricia Sankey

That’s a great article to explain. Interesting about the cookies. My husband would probably understand it better though! 😜

  7. memadtwo

I haven’t gotten any emails from Google, so I haven’t a clue. Are they processing my data? I hope not, actually. They know too much about me already. (K)

      1. memadtwo

Thanks Selma. I agree it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with emails. Why would you want cookies on emails, (or on anything for that matter? I always opt for the fewest cookies possible). Unless you have a marketing business, where you want to track your customers, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Oh I’m so sorry,, I hate all of this stuff. I’m having another issue that is driving me crazy.. where are the WP happiness google, etc genius’s .. good luck! 💗

    1. Selma Martin

I put it in the back burner. Hoping it’ll just disappear.
      Good luck with yours too.

I don’t have any answers either, Selma. It can all be overwhelming. Wishing you a great Monday! ❤️💐

    1. Selma Martin

Thanks Lauren. In an eye blink Monday turned to Tuesday 🤣 I love everyday. Even Mondays. Sending you ((hugs))

        1. Selma Martin

Tuesday had the upper hand still but Yes, the wee hours of Wednesday then.
Mid day now. Have a good night. Thanks for connecting with me in my time zone. Bless you. Xoxo 💝

Selma, technology is my nemesis! “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” is a proverb that comes to mind. Things change at such a crazy pace! Guess it’s a sign of old age to feel that way! Watch out for scammers. It seems that they are becoming more numerous and more devious by the day! wishing you peace! <3

    1. Selma Martin

Spammers: this is the sad truth of our times. I’m so disappointed in that part of the equation.
Well, Google is too big to ignore. But I dislike their aggressive tactics.
And isn’t it something: problems come in clusters. Never just one problem. One (I) gets overwhelmed. But here I am! Things change way too fast for me. But again, here I am!
Bless you. You too, be vigilant, dear Cheryl. XoXo

Clueless like me. And to compound it even more, other disturbing emails 😳 wiggled bin at the same time. And just when I was busy — anyway, I’m getting my sanity back. Thanks for the comment. Bless you v

      1. Smitha V

I ignore what I don’t understand and hope it’ll just go away. Most often, these emails take care of themselves 😄. But reading your post and everybody’s comment here made me feel better that I’m not the only one who is clueless. Have a wonderful day, Selma. I’m glad to know you’re getting your sanity back. Hugs.

I feel your pain, Selma. I know my way around most devices and the internet, but this stuff is 🤯 It seems to me that Google is developing a way to get around new privacy laws. But I guess marketers gotta market. I don’t use analytics myself. I can’t be bothered. I just want to write and share my writing. Likes and comments are great, but the rest… I can’t worry my tired head about it all.

Thanks for stopping. Comments mean the world to me. Won't you please leave one?
