Hello friends, Greetings! It’s almost the end of the month–can you believe it? And
the farther we go, the merrier the colors all around. What loveliness!
So…I’ve been on an extended break. Some days I do nothing at all–I mean NADA,
and others I take peeks here and there. Oh, but I’m walking all over the place and I’ll
have you know that I’m in the market now for a new pair of walking shoes. hehe. yup!
But I’ve been reading and reviewing books. So I need to share.
First, A Poetry Collection by Eco-Poet, D. L. Finn:
ABOUT THIS BOOK:
Embark on a captivating journey with D. L. Finn as she guides you through the
intricate landscapes of free verse and symbolic poetry. Hike with her through the
magical forest, feel the wind on your face riding on the back of a Harley, or bask
on the warm Hawaiian shores. Her search for life’s magic invites the reader to
traverse through the four seasons in part one. Emotions, observations, and stories
weave through part two’s texture. Whether the words explore a sunset, healing, or
magic, each poem flows through moments where poetry blooms.
Nature: The subject matter: What we’re made of: Poetry for everyone
In this short book review, I want to begin by telling you how Deep in the Forest Where
Poetry Blooms: Just Her Poetry Book Two by D. L. Finn made me feel: It’s high time I
paid attention to the ever-present signs nature has been showing me instead of
thinking I’m the boss of it.
Let’s pay attention, please. I’m glad to see more poets pioneering us in this direction.
Deep in the Forest Where Poetry Blooms: Just Her Poetry Book Two by D. L. Finn
speaks to the human role of eco-poets and the ever-evolving way nature carries us
along with all its changing seasons and (sometimes) evokes inspiration.
This collection is divided into two parts: Nature’s Spirit & Free Spirit [PLUS an excerpt
at the end] and it invites the reader to tag along. I did, and propelled by Finn’s words,
viewed nature with new sensibilities, and felt a smiling presence in every poem.
I slowed down when the Author slowed down to show how the interconnection
between nature and me is not complicated: I just need to pay attention to the
simplicities around—like that in leaves!
Thoreau said, “Shall I not have intelligence with the earth? Am I not partly leaves
and vegetable mould myself?”
I feel Finn absorbs and interacts with the same world I live in and does it with a wild
heart that really pays attention. And in penning her soulful words I felt that she
received solace and that she then gifted that calm to me. I inhaled deeply.
This book is like a modern-day pastoral meditation.
…And like the family of dear mentioned in the Excerpts of Just Her Poetry section at
the end of the book, this eco-poet has magically “left part of her wilderness with me,
and for that I am thankful.”
Come read for yourself to find out how it will make you feel. I know you will feel as
refreshed as I did. High praise from a satisfied customer in Japan.
Reviewed on Amazon and Goodreads.
Thanks so much for reading and I hope this has piqued your interest in another
wonderful book that will make you feel refreshed as only nature knows to do.
And in my capacity as a nature writer myself, I bestow D.L Finn the title of
eco-poet extraordinaire.
“Embrace your inner child
by reading a good book!” ~ D. L. Finn
