A book dedicated to all poetry lovers is just the book I want to read, and in her introduction of Fusion: Poems of Life by Balroop Singh, the poet says of the book,

“Some songs of life dilute in the hourglass of time to erase the shadows-dark or
light, all the colors play an equal role to create a fusion.”//

“The poems in this collection are an amalgamation of harmonies and edges that
bind us firmly.”//

This fusion is what gives meaning to our lives. Right there—I love the title!

The poems are divided into three sections: Harmonies P9~, Visceral Vibes P.47~,
and Edges P.70~.

As seen on Amazon

My thoughts:

Fusion is an eloquent tribute to the austere beauty of living an authentic life
where all the human feels merge to alert us to the sweet reality: this is life!
Ups and downs, darkness and light, harmonies and edges that bind — all part
of the human experience.

Based on what’s seen through her picture window, the author conveys elegant
images expressed through colors and moods: and the reader just about catches
a glimpse of what the Author sees through that window.

“I like to celebrate colors /Hues of blue soften /To mingle in the moods /As life
trails on waves.”//

And in her haunting insight on shadows:

“The Shadows /The shadow that followed me /Could no longer scare /It lost
its power /The day I turned around /To test its truth.”//

And from her muse:

“My Muse /Her wings draw strength /From shadows, /Light from stars, vanity
from wind, /Passion from amorous hearts /She knows what lies within.”//

And when you are on the edge, when fears keep creeping up— “On the Edge”

“You have to wade into murky waters /To measure the depth. /You have to risk
the heights /To know your worth. /Slippery snow makes you learn /How to create
footholds.”//

Words that showed me how these are able to augment beauty in everything
around me.

The Author laments the state of things in

“Even ‘He’ Looks the Other Way!” How like many of us, questions how ‘He’ “let
the Covid demons take over”/

“He looks away and let people perish”/

‘He’s “NOT there” //

Don’t tell me this thought hasn’t visited you in the last three years. Read this
book to ‘see’ into the Author’s mind on this…

My Fave:

“How Far Is Now? (Pg. 92)

How far is now? /This question perplexed me- /How absurd, I thought! /How
could “Now” be far? / Isn’t it in our dreams, /In our hands /In our efforts Is it
too far? /Yet it is- /If we miss the moments /That run ahead, /Faster than our
thoughts. /It is far… /If we fail to connect /With the morning glow, /With the
day’s discrepancies. /It is much, much far /If we let the sun dip /Behind the
trees /That awn the connection of light. /It is definitely far /If we let the
opportunity slip /Out of our hands /And choose darker alleys.”//

Another fave:

“Soundless (Pg. 84)

Quiet is the wind that promised /To carry my message to the clouds. /Quiet
is my dream of flying high /With wings clipped by emotional shears. /Quiet
is the hope of sunshine /As darkness thickens around me. /Quiet is the critter
of my mind /Who likes to chatter all day! /Quiet is the ‘tu-tump’ of my heart /
That wallows in self-pity. /Quiet is the sound of my feet /Fettered by unknown
forces. /Quiet is the bee that sits on blossoms Inebriated by the nectar. /In
stupor, I wait for sounds /Even Mother Nature is quiet.”//

Indeed, calming, and restorative poetry for the soul—5-star. I highly recommend
“Fusion” to all who love good soulful poetry.

Bless you all.

“Now purple tints are all around;
The sky is blue and mellow;
And e’en the grasses turn the ground
From modest green to yellow.”

I just returned from viewing the harvest moon and the glittering planets in the early morning hours. As I sit here watching the blush on the eastern horizon, I read and reread your wonderful review. of “Fusion.” Balroop’s words are soul-stirring. I especially enjoyed “Slippery snow makes you learn how to create footholds.” Thank you, Selma and Balroop for adding meaning to the sunrise.
