On the eve of St. Valentine’s Day, I’ve decided to give this lovely inspirational post another go to celebrate My Forever Valentine: my husband.
Full disclosure: I’ve been too busy to write new material as I try to figure out Google
and try to right whatever I did wrong to have them send me so many emails. I might have found the discrepancy and will update you soon so it does not happen to you.
In the meantime, here’s a repost of one I enjoyed writing.
<<Through My Lenses. What Do You See Through Yours>>
For My Forever Valentine: Laze On
No doubt not the largest in the grasslands But amplified by the strength of the pride A dozen bronze lions go after prey And more fearless becomes the hunting squad With iconic bodies that can achieve 500 lbs. — a quarter of a ton! A human's height of nine feet— give or take, Roars that reverberate up to five miles The apex land predator is, hands down, The prowler in the scrublands others fear King whose strength lies in the strength of his pride (by and by...) Laze around, wild beast, in the wild land, The pride strong, the females strong: The larger heart, the kindlier hand Have perfected their hunting skills Wild one, years show in your robust mane But your roar is still strong: It is your kingly agency that Protects and ensures the pride's place In the savanna — wild one, laze on © 2022 selmamartin.com
The *pride in this poem consists of only moi now. And the female is singular but
I’ve decided to leave it as is: I like how it sounds.
*Pride: I know you know this, but let me remind you, in case you’ve forgotten,
a group of lions and lionesses is called pride.
I was inspired to write a response to this lovely picture prompt,
and I base it on the fact that my dear husband, my breadwinner,
is close to ending his years of braving it out in society’s wild land.
I see him trying to do the same as he always has for our
family (his pride, if you will), and I keep insisting that he go easy
on himself. So, I wish for you to read between the lines.
Laze on, darling husband. Laze on.
What Do You See? #WDYS
Thanks, Sadje, for the lovely prompt.
I bless you.
For the visually challenged reader, this image is of a white Lion staring directly into
the camera. Behind him, the wires of an enclosure can be seen.
Thanks to everyone who read this one before and to all the new readers.
Let me know if you can relate to this (or not).
Have a splendidly lovely St. Valentine’s Day and still, I wish you miracles.
