The Time Our Light Shines Brightest Than Ever #poetry

I once heard stars shone brightest
when its time comes, and they start to collapse
just like man, when death comes the closest
sometimes, salient features recaps:
beliefs & facts
offenses & mean acts
wrongs make right, perhaps

but death doesn’t come to man on demand
atonement alone lacks restitution for crimes
to him will come a time
to stand alone to understand
his head hang, pressures withstand
‘till at length, he’ll feel damned

until at last, in all his desperation
he’ll long to be closer to the light
planting seeds of hope in the desolation
to dismantle codes learned from yonder days and lonely nights

not till then will his eyes be the windows
of a soul that once shone pure light like yours and mine
just as it’ll come to you and me, circus weirdos,
so that slowly, like stars, our light will finally shine most bright

Thanks for reading. I wish you miracles to all.

And may the sentiment extend to the leaders of Russia and North Korea.
Firstly, may the people of Ukraine wake up to a new day where peace prevails. And secondly, seeing how the leader of North Korea keeps taunting my adopted country with missiles on such a regular basis, I cannot but ask the universe to align with my wishes at this crucial point in history, too: No copycats. No escalations, please.

May despots’ proclivity for greed and power cease to be.

“Keep watch with the angels, the stars and moon;
For freedom comes tomorrow’s noon.”
~ Lines from my country’s national anthem.

    no luck

Loved this post ….. including the mentions that followed. I “flat-lined” over a hundred times in the days prior to my heart transplant. I vividly remember the light being the brightest each time as I regained consciousness after being hit with that defib’s shock ……. everything dark, the sounds weak, and gradually everything got brighter/louder as my heart pumped my blood again.

Dap, so trilled you added your experience of what it was like for you. I cannot imagine what that must be like. I’m so glad you saw that light and that it helped to pull you out of that darkness. I bless you. Bless your heart too. Thanks for reading and commenting. I wish you peace and miracles and a skip on your steps as you walk those long distances every day. wow. xoxo
