TankaTuesday Weekly #Poetry Challenge No. 320, May 16th

💼 Work & Play 💃🏼are the two opposite words we work with this week for the
Synonyms Only challenge at the Word Craft Poetry Website hosted by the
wonderful Colleen M. Chesebro. I hope you like the traditional haiku (includes
a kigo) I created for you.

It was in March 2021 when I first took the leap and joined my first-ever syllabic
poetry challenge at Word Craft Poetry, and it was there that I began to feel
the beauty of the WordPress Community. And it so happens that week was
Synonyms Only Week, so with a little nostalgia, I contribute a short one today.
Thanks, Colleen, and the lovely community there. You guys rock!

Friends, anyone can join in this challenge, and I encourage you to click on the link
to get all the pointers you need on how to write syllabic poetry. You will not be
disappointed–I promise you that! See you inside? *wink* I hope so.

Thanks for reading. Happy middle of May–May the force be with you.

I really like your haiku, Selma. The words you have chosen are perfect. You have a great talent for poetry. I always enjoy your writing. Take care, and have a wonderful day. We have glorious sunshine here. I don’t know how long it will last, though, so I’m trying to enjoy it while I can 🌞🌷💞

Ellie, you are sweet for saying that to me. And funny thing is that I think YOU have an amazing talent for poetry. May the sun shine bright in your area and may the lovely words flow. Know that I am not avoiding you, but for some reason I cannot seem to do well with my time these days. Blame it on the season of change. Bless you dear one. All the best in everything. xoxo

Like you do. I read your post on being a teacher. I know you love your job. I bless you, Yve. xoxo

What a fun idea that fields could be tilled by farmhands frolicking. I tend to think of work more than play in tilling but you made me see a different perspective. Thanks.

Yes, it’s an inside job, methinks. And wouldn’t it be great if there was less complaining and more enjoyment in the jobs we are assigned to (or choose ourselves) I thank you so much for your lovely words, LuAnne. I bless you. I wish you miracles. xo

Nice one, Selma. I got a visual of a couple of Amish farmers ploughing the field with their horses.

Lisa, dear Lisa. That is a glorious image. I love it. Thanks and thanks.

  8. Luanne

I love how poems like this bring us back to our farm roots.

Short, sweet and works for me! I like the syllabic poems. They are not as stilted as some of the rhyming, metered poetry we grew up with, but they are from the heart. 🙂 Well done.

    1. Selma Martin

Marsha, your words are the empowering affirmations I need. Thanks so much for visiting and leaving me such lovely a comment. I’m so happy for this. I bless you. xoxo

Thanks for stopping. Comments mean the world to me. Won't you please leave one?
