feet set firmly, she sees them branches tipped over with fruit spits into palms, rubs briskly wraps arms around bole and heaves thighs & calves jack up then grip trunk snaking she reaches a laden branch stretch, touch, grasp 'n gently tug it for risks, the fruit's a just reward *** © 2021 selmamartin.com
I was a good tree climber back in the day. For their fruit– mango trees, coconut trees, avocado trees. And for seed pods, you could find me perched on a flamboyant tree.
And if you wish to know how to climb any of my trees, please read the poem once again.

Selms,
If ever there were a perfect illustration for risk-taking, this one is right up there! And the reward, juicy. Beautifully written.

Thanks for all this. Glad you read.
I enjoyed your narration of you being a tree climber. 🙂
It’s true. And the prompt reminded me of that. Yay.
What a captivating little piece! It’s a type of dance, getting up that tree! Mystical image to match your words! 💝
Glad you liked what your prompt brought out. Loved working on it. Was going for seven syllables per line then realized I didn’t know how to write a sevenlingy. Gotta read up more on the form. Haha. Thanks.
I’m no good at counting syllables myself, but appreciate those who enjoy doing it! 😊
My kind of gal!! Cheers.
Hehe. Thanks, Helen.
Very beautifully penned.
Aww. Thanks for saying. Was fun to write.
Oh I think, sometimes you have to climb a tree to find the fruit…
Yeah. The best fruit is the one you tug gently with your hands. Sweetest too! Thanks for reading.
Risking life and limb to enjoy life’s plump, juicy rewards. Excellent metaphor, well written.
Thanks for reading and enjoying the metaphor. Loved the comment, ShirleyB. Be well. I wish you miracles
I enjoyed the fruits of your labour.
So glad you did, Sean. And gladder still that you decided to let me know. Thanks so much.
I LOVE the image you’ve chosen, and how you’ve chosen to illustrate it. I think the greater risk may be in the lady revealing her ankles to the gentleman stood off to the side…
Hehe. Here a risk, there a risk, everywhere you turn — risks!
Life, beautiful life, really.
But I tell you, that gentleman in stockings will never make it up a tree unless he takes those off.
… there a risk!
Thanks, Ingrid. LOVE your comment. Now I’ll be singing this song until bedtime (which is close) 😆
Be well. Good night.
🤣 he does risk laddering his hose!
😝 😂
Gorgeous write! 💝💝
Thanks most kindly for reading and commenting. I’m overwhelmed by it. xo
