Like Looking Far Into The Horizon– Review of Life & Soul

Hello, dear friends, I have a book review for you today. You can also find it at Amazon. yay!

Poetry: Life & Soul: Book 2 in the Soul Poetry Series by Harmony Kent–
the collection is like looking far into the horizon and gaining awareness.

I’M ALWAYS PLEASED WHEN a book on Amazon offers me the option of looking inside.
This way, I can get a feel of the author’s words. It’s at this stage that I decide whether
I purchase the book or not. With Life and Soul, the simplicity in this poem sealed the
deal for me. Entitled Hope:

“The lonely violet
dancing in the meadow
swaying in the breeze
waiting for a visit
from a honey bee”

Life and Soul, the second book in the Soul Poetry Series by acclaimed author Harmony
Kent is a beautiful book of feel-good poetry that’s contemplative as it reflects to
experiences in anyone’s life.

Sifting through the pages, you’ll notice how the poems are short, but please don’t let
that stop you; there’s depth in the brevity that only a true word curator like Ms. Kent
can place in your path.

Reading through the fifty-something poems of living and longing made me feel as if I
was contemplating rocks in a Japanese rock garden, where, more than rocks, I was
looking far into the horizon and getting an intimate glimpse into the author’s life.
((that then translated to awareness of my own)).

I enjoyed how the poems were divided into six sections—Lonely Soul, Seeking Soul,
Brief Soul, Friendly Soul, Loving Soul, and The Life of a Soul.

Each section is sprinkled with contemporary poems in various styles and themes about
the human condition.

I loved all the sections and nodded at the well-chosen title of the book: Life and Soul.

The poems will resonate with you like these lines from the book resonated with me:

“There’s no glory like it
in the Heavens or on Earth,
than sailing free into the fire
of the sun as it sets
into the glistening sea”

*

“I’m not the prettiest flower in the field
But neither am I a weed
Take the time to watch me bloom
Don’t cut my stem and moan when I fade too soon
Far better that you leave me be
Dancing in the breeze, wild and free”

*

Fabulous awareness. I hope you agree.

A five-star rating and praise from me for Life & Soul: Book 2 in the Soul Poetry Series
by Harmony Kent. It’s a stunning collection of poems I will read again and again.

Until recently, most of the books I purchased on Amazon have been paperbacks.
The last paperback I bought was Tell Me A Story by Annette Rochelle Aben. I just love to cuddle with real books and read slowly, thank you very much. And I love to
make notes and add post-its on sections I like best.

Very recently, I discovered that I could have text read to me for the few books I have on
my iPhone’s Kindle (not the KindleUnlimited from Amazon). All one needs to do is turn on that function on settings>>general>>accessibility>>spoken content on your iPhone. And voila! Listen while you do the dishes…
It’s not perfect, but it’s been a game-changer. And since I’ve been reading lots of poetry, the speed is turned to slow. I’m liking this, and now you know.
A slow reader like me is finally getting real help. Now, if only I could compile some of my poetry on Scrivener and gift you something straight from my heart. Sheesh. Smh!

Happy Summer, THANKS FOR READING, and I wish you miracles.
