Let’s Do This Thing: Beach Balls For W3

 Let’s do this thing!

Friends, begin by reading the poem that brought about this honor. So cool, Willow!

‘The Tree of Life’, a poem by Willow

Next, here’s the prompt details:

W3 Prompt #71: Wea’ve Written Weekly’s poet of the week, Willow:

  • Write a two-stanza acrostic poem for the words “Beach Balls”;
    • Thematic: The theme is “holiday thoughts”;
    • Rhyming: In each of your poem’s two stanzas, the 1st line must rhyme
      with the 3rdline; the 2nd line must rhyme with the 4th line; and the 5th
      line need not rhyme.
    • AND, IF

If you’re feeling ambitious, try following this additional guideline:

  • Syllabic: For both stanzas, the syllabic count should be 5/8/6/10/6 per line.
    (I’m not feeling that ambitious.)

“Suntans will fade like
my childhood faded
but summer’s tang will linger
like a love song.”
~Selma Martin

Beach, beautiful as a spring flower
Exhuberant shore where I exhale stress
Another bittersweet summer to remember
Cajoled I surrender to September’s caress
Hinting at life’s autumn side of summer

Because, no! Summer cannot last forever;
Armed with a towel watching Moon get thinner
Languid days must pass; I’ll forget never
Long I will covet summer most in winter:
Sand, waves, glorious skies, and sea
