Here’s another oldie from my time on Medium. I might have shared it once before
already, I’m not sure. Anyway, here’s how that got started.
The night this poem was born, I recall how I was wrapping up on my reading when I
came upon a lovely short poem penned by a new friend. In turn, he wrote about getting
inspired by one such poem himself.
He used the last line of the first person’s poem to start his– like how we do with
candles– and I did the same with his last line. And before I knew it, in flickered
something warm in me that made me want to delay sleep and join in.
Within minutes the words had populated the blank page. It was a good little
unscheduled poem, and of course, I wish to share it with you here.
Perhaps this one will inspire you? If so, let’s keep the flame lit: with a little positivity
and lots of kindness, you and I just might manage to heal our world: just in time to
celebrate Earth Day the Tikkun Olam way.
I FEEL ADORED I shed my skin I shed my cares For I know God’s extraordinaire He sees my sorrows; my soul does keep His beacon’s bright for all His sheep With promise strong I weathered storms Assured His love is uniform So now that Sun has gone to sleep And Moon doth shine, my love is deep My bed is warm Reverent is my spirit My eyes get heavier By the minute If tonight I travel to the promised land I pray the Lord will take my hand If I’m to see another day I pray that He will guide my way Shed all my cares I feel adored A choir of angels In perfect accord *** We are healing the world… * © 2022 selmamartin.com
