A beautiful book of poetry that will make you believe in humanity again

Selma i A poet extraordinaire who has such a tender heart that it’s love for
nature spills out Selma is her poetry with every poem she writes. Her kindness
shines through her soft words and tender phrases when she addresses her
fellow human beings. A poetry book that will restore your faith in human
kindness and love.

Poetry that touches the heart and mind.

Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2023

In the introduction of Selma’s debut poetry book, In the Shadow of Rainbows,
she shares her truths:

“The events that left imprints on me happened in my head and helped me to live
a reality that was felt.”

In_The_Shadow_of_Rainbows. Kindle Edition.

From the shadows and into the transformative light of rainbows, Selma’s poetry
emerges to make connections between her experiences and her readers. For a
time, we step into her shoes and see through her eyes. She encourages us to…
“come with her, I’ll help you find your poem…”

There’s something here for everyone. The poem, “Song for Kenji,” spoke to my
love of nature. “The House,” reminded me of the things we like to bury from our
past; and “You Know Her,” reminded me to pause and be grateful for each new day.
Selma’s words flow seamlessly, and her poems are filled with vivid imagery.

I took my time savoring this poetry. I let each poem roll around in my heart and
mind. Selma’s message is to motivate us to be the best we can be, and to live a
life full of right intentions, and to show our love for others. This positive message
resonates throughout the book.

Poetry to sing in the rain!

Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2023

Selma’s poetry is real and relatable. Her writing explores both beauty and
brokenness. Her poems acknowledge life’s shadows and storm clouds but
through the tears, we might just see a rainbow shining through. As Selma
says in her introduction, “I’m confident that one poem in this book will take
your hand, reunite you with your echo and take you home.” I definitely found
more than one to take my hand; in fact my list of “favorites” would get too
long for this brief review!

Dreams
they grow
and they flow
in black and white
your deepest secrets show
in shadows hid in darkest nights.
Could there be escape from unearthly plight?
Is it sunlight, or are you caught in headlight beams-
rooted, incapable of fight or flight?
Face your demons -  dodge sting & bite,
that chase and scare one so.
Keep aim on light
whence you go
with glow
teem
