Welcome to Day Six of Na/GloPoWriMo, everyone!
Your place in the family of things
depends on the value you place on your essence. First,
place your hand on your chest and feel your aliveness for a moment
in the quiet of the silence, take stock of your breathing;
the force that is your being flutters like the pulse in butterfly wings or
family roots that wind around and expand to propel you further.
of all the wonderments of this world, you are the fairest– even when
things refuse to mend, or sorrow seems to linger, you’ll find the signs
over and over, announcing your place in the family of things*

*Mary Oliver’s Wild Geese: your place in the family of things
The Challenge: (optional) write a variation of an acrostic poem. But rather than spelling out a word with the first letters of each line, I’d like you to write a poem that reproduces a phrase with the first words of each line. Perhaps you could write a poem in which the first words of each line, read together, reproduce a treasured line of poetry? You could even try using a newspaper headline or something from a magazine article. Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy this prompt. Happy writing!

I am amazed at how some words just grab you. Something about the form, the message, the words, just sank right into my heart. Your depth and insight into life and expressing it through your poetry inspires me to keep going.
With gratitude…
