An Aside: Dear friends, the formatting today is iffy. And I don’t know how
to fix it. I’ve reduced typography to fit better at the expense of you not being
able to read it. Gosh, embarrassed. Forgive. I will need to work this out in the
a.m.

Day Twenty-Eight

When I read the Day28th prompt I immediately thought of how the following
song made me feel like what Susan Vega sang about, way back in the day.
Loved the feeling. See for yourself and let me know if you relate…

(not my words)

                                  ...today I am
                               a small blue thing,
like a marble or an eye.
Today I am a small blue thing,
like a marble or an eye-- with my
knees against my mouth I am perfectly
round-- I am watching you. I am cold against
your skin you are perfectly reflected i am lost
inside your pocket; I am lost against your fingers
I am falling down the stairs I am skipping on the
sidewalk --I am thrown against the sky I am raining
down in pieces I am scattering like light, scatter-
ing like light, scattering like light.today I am a
small blue thing, made of China, made of glass. I
am cool and smooth and curious, I never blink. I
am turning in your hand, turning in your hand
today I am a small blue thing, like a marble
or an eye-- with my knees against my mouth
I am perfectly round-- I'm watching you.
                         I'm perfectly round-- watching you.
                           I am perfectly-perfectly round
                              perfectly round, watching!
                                   SMALL BLUE THING:
                                       Susan Vega

This was fun! Thanks for sharing the delight of a windy day and a blue marble 🙂

Lynn, thanks so very much for delighting in my antics. hehe. A windy day brings about a windy poem. hehe. And the blue marble: Were you around when that song was released? Did it not make you feel like a marble? I know It did me… hehe. Blessings.

I don’t remember the song but idea of “blue marble” makes me think of our precious planet Earth 🙂 It’s usually windy here on the prairie, so I can relate!

Thanks for reading and for relating so well, Lynn. Stand with feet firmly planted in the ground.
Don’t get flown/blown away please. I bless you. xoxo

Yve, adore what you see. Thanks sincerely, my sweet. xoxo

I very much enjoyed that first poem that you said needed formatting better. I thought it was just lovely the way it is. A delight to read. It’s very clever – I’d like to know whether that particular pattern of poetry has a special name or way of describing it? I’m glad I found you – I saw you on one of Krissy’s posts (A Poet’s Vision blog). Keep writing. I shall look forward to your next one. Ellie 🙂

Ellie, hello. How nice of you to drop by. You are always welcome here. Thanks. The poem is probably a misfit for the concrete poem requirements for the prompt today. But what I tried to do within the scope of the prompt is to show the words being flown about: hard to
contain into a concrete form, maybe. So, if it’s not a concrete poem, then I don’t know what to call it, hahaha. sorry…
At the same time, I am so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks a bunch, Ellie, I will look you up too. Give me time as right now I’m running on empty.
I bless you and wish you miracles. xoxo

Thank you for such a lovely welcome, Selma. I’ve never heard of a concrete poem, so I’ve learned something new today. Always a good thing! It’s a very clever way of writing poetry, and I don’t feel it needs changing at all, although you thought it was a bit ‘ iffy.’ It’s beautiful just the way it is. I really admire all you poets that were up for this month’s challenge – that would be quite a feat of endurance for me! I can only write poetry if it happens to pop into my head. I’ve never been able to write a poem at will. I’d appreciate a visit from you, but there’s no rush – I would just be honoured if and when you have time. Thanks. Take care. Ellie xx <3

Oh yes, formatting is such a pain, for me it was too. You still managed. I especially like the exlamat!on po!nts. And this song by Suzanne was always a favourite so thanks for this.

Love your comments. I have reworked the formatting issue and believe it’s better now. If you read on your phone, you’ll need to view in horizontal mode (meaning, turn the phone sideways). Glad Small Blue Thing was a fave of yours too. Lovely song. In my mind, that was a concrete poem already… Blessings.

Formatting is an art in itself…and WordPress is not very cooperative–but you did great! (K)

    1. Selma Martin

Thanks, K. Formatting got the best of me. I believe I’ve kinda fixed it now by removing some extra space. Thanks for commenting. I am always thrilled for your visits and comments. Stay sweet. I bless you.

    1. Selma Martin

Thanks, Krissy. Means tons to me to hear you say that. xoxo

This was quite the challenge to read but oh I had fun reading it. 😁❤️

  9. Selma Martin

Glad to know. It represented a windy day, where board games– two: numbers and words, got mixed up and flown away. haha. My childish mind at work. It comes out when I’m tired. haha. Thanks for reading, Daphny. I bless you.

I always write in my own doc program. It does not translate well to WP. So no appologies needed. f
Fun to flitter with the fae.

    Stay kind. Cheers.

I absolutely love your concrete poem! The formatting and the way you’ve typed it, kind of graffiti style, it’s so cool. It’s like fairy dust and yet it resembles a witchy side profile. Awesome! I also love the blue button concrete poem you shared, that was a delight to read! <3

Thanks for stopping. Comments mean the world to me. Won't you please leave one?
