Chutzpah of The Thing Darkness Cannot Kill

The thing that darkness cannot kill is that thing that’s
not fake and comes alive the moment you notice it’s there.

no scorching embers to unlight
no martyr’s badge of pride
I’m zephyr blown into the night
to guide and glide my stride

the thing that darkness cannot kill
resides in me, reborn
the thing reborn alights the night,
enfolds me into morn

rebellion provoked and mocked me
the wounds have yet to heal
my true essence is not ersatz
I’m what darkness cannot kill

To express appreciation to you, my WordPress audience, I put inhibitions
aside and present you with a reading of my poem. I hope you enjoy it.
The music in the background is a recording I made in 2015: My son and
his friends doing a gig.

May the last week of June find you growing into new horizons. May your
celebrations be plentiful: the perfect close to the first half of the year.

The encouragement poem is to help you recalibrate your You-ness, feeling
whole and worthy of all that is to come in the second half of the year.

I’m so happy to have you in my life and hope we stay in each other’s life
for many years of growth and becoming.
