Surrender To Your Past By Noticing Your Present #sonnet

A sonnet about surrendering to your past by taking stock of your present blessings

Revolving slowly comes the carousel
With caches of half-forgotten mem’ries
Lands me on lorn sand beach, unease does quell
‘Till ebb and flow reveals polarities

Now levitate the sepia photos
In ever-spinning reels of love genteel
Whirling, churning me in clouds, nebulous,
And prompt me to climb on and next to feel

The purple light of morn steals through curtains
I feel your arm laid heavy on my chest
A grateful smile curls, no more uncertain —
Glad to have you to snuggle with — I’m blessed

In dreams, the carousel comes in to teach
Succumb, recovery’s not out of reach

Hello, dear friends. After a long hiatus, I’ve been trying to post on the Medium platform. Medium has evolved since I was active. I post new material and repost it here a month
later, sometimes under a new title. If you’re unfamiliar with Medium and hope to know
more, ask, and I’ll share what I know.

This post first appeared in the Move Me Poetry Publication on Medium.
Feel free to visit it there with this free link.

Thanks for reading my words of encouragement. Be well. I wish you miracles.

May despots’ proclivity for taunts, greed, and power cease to be. May peace prevail in every corner of the world. Amen.

I love this comforting carousel you’ve described. It’s like being lulled to sleep or being lulled awake with different dream-like memories bobbing up in between. Lovely, Selma <3

Part of recognizing those scars is to forgive how they got there.
To have someone to share our present and future is indeed a wonderful blessling.

Thanks for the other info. I’m happy with WP at the moment. But I might save the info for the future.

    Take care, Jules

      True, True.

No worries about that other part. None at all.
      Xo

A lovely sonnet, Selma, beautifully written and relatable. <3 I am grateful that I got another chance at happiness after a divorce and again after my second husband died. I appreciate Robert every day!
