Reading has been my favorite pastime as far as I can remember, but I didn’t own many books — the library was my treasure hub.
Later, my mother got me my first penpal, which opened up a whole new world. Valerie and I wrote to each other for a couple of years until she stopped answering my letters.
‘Journaling’ to an imaginary pen pal came next…
To this day, I love letter writing.
I want to revive that bubbly feeling I get when I write letters, and I want to do it by telling stories of characters that live in my head and the ordinary life experiences I have.
I hope you don’t mind ‘ordinary’ because I want to show you how ordinary does not mean boring.
In 2017 I started working on a family saga–a story I started on a whim that soon made me fall in love with my unpretentious characters. But…but then the characters got unwieldy, and I took a long detour from it–immersed myself in poetry. I’ll return to it one day, polish it, and share it with the world. Promise.
I’m half a poet now: writing poetry brings me immense joy. Has such a thing happened to you?
I’m a simple woman who dares to see the beauty in the ordinary. I’d love to connect with you, like penpals. We’re all on journeys. I want to help you with yours as you join me in mine.
Selma is my middle name. Its meaning — peaceful, and complete are euphoric affirmations I like to think of as having. They complement the joy I feel when I write. Won’t you journey together with me?
I Wish You Miracles.
