It’s all about the angle
and the weightage you house
if you laze the hours often
forever will outlive you
You’ll dwell in dread, numb, empty
unrest will drag you down
to find that Summer lapsed by,
a long Winter’s ensuing
But when you seek for timeless
forever might be short
an error of perception
you cannot reproach the stars

A special early-bird prompt, based on the poetry of Emily Dickinson. Dickinson is known for her elliptical style, unusual word choices, and mordant sense of humor. Over the past year, I’ve experimented with writing poems based on, or responding to, various lines from her poems. Today, I’d like to challenge you to do the same! Here are a few lines of Dickinson’s that might appeal to you (the slashes indicate line breaks)... continue reading here.
Thanks for reading my early bird, *wink* “Forever might be short”
I wish you miracles.

Forever has been getting shorter all the time. I love your last line the most. April fun is starting! Wishing you plenty of it.

Anyway, my sweet. Glad you came and left a comment. My days seem to be getting shorter now as I try to meet the lovely challenges every day. Happy writing. XoXo
WordPress is acting out. Today it’s eating every like that I give, so that I can never be sure if I gave it already or not. :p
Beautiful write, Selma! So wise. I love this last stanza especially:

forever might be short
an error of perception
you cannot reproach the stars”
