What Do You See Prompt # 214 for November 27, 2023: When A Lighthouse Dies

The lighthouse guides no one it seems
when it is the sun’s shift to shine
it only comes alive at twilight
when eyes cannot define.

But what happens when a lighthouse dies,
and the sun shines its hottest flame?
Big and small ships run amok
with no help in sight to right them.

A mother dies, and then what happens?
Her brood of adult children clash and inflame
and there’s nothing to do about it, but
wait for the turbulence to right them.

This is my response to the prompt for Sadje of Keep it Alive Website.
Thank you, Sadje. Blessings to everyone.

Sadje: For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a lighthouse
on top of a gray concrete dock. The light on its top can be seen shining
in the pre-dawn day. In the background, lights from a ship or a port can
be seen.
