You Giggle When You Nibble On Twittles

Here’s a trio of Twittles, a new form I’m exploring. It has an exact 100-alphabet count. Enjoy.

got me a brand new basket
I skip in tune to a tisket a tasket
where to go with that you ask
well I’m heading straight to Basque

to Basque Country I go
the gastronomic destination that woes
where I’ll fill up on Marmitakos
and Pintxos come on Vamos!

I got twittles in my basket
they got stars in the Michelin Guide
Basque and I truly profit
this foodie is nibbly satisfied

What’s A Twittle?

A twittle is a nutty poem
in the class of a quatrain
exactly one hundred alphabet letters
a perfect workout for your brain

This is my first attempt at Twittles, a poetry form I came to know through a friend on Medium. Perhaps you know these as Dribbles? You’re right: The dribble, according to Poets Collective. That’s where these originated but from now on when I give it another shot I’ll refer to them as Twittles.

Selma’s note:

if these twittles made you tickle
and you’re determined you must try
then PING me so I giggle
and I’ll cheer you with a reply

aside #1: to arrive at 100 alphabet letters, put it through your counter without punctuation. Better yet, put it through TheCharacterCountTool. It makes it easy peasy.
aside #2: these are addictive
aside #3: Marmitako and Pintxos of Basque Country, the gastronomic travel destination in San Sebastian, Spain, were introduced to me by my son, who spent one summer there, indulging.

What an interesting form and idea! I struggle to keep my word count down for the dVerse Quadrille, so not sure I’d cope counting letters 😅

As for pinxtos – love ‘em! 💖

Ingrid, I’m so behind in my replies to my sweet hearts. YOU. Forgive. Trying to be present in two places is hard work. But, Ingrid, gosh, this weekend, I was all smiles. As of this moment, that poem about the queen has garnered me 6.8K views on Medium. I don’t know how that happened. It might never get repeated, so for now, I’m enjoying it.
Glad you love pinxtos (this late response is about the pinxtos post) sorry, so late… blessings.

I’m in awe of your poetry skills, Selma. You are very clever to be such a versatile writer. I really enjoyed this one. I’m not sure if this comment will appear from ‘Anonymous’ again, or not. I’ve contacted WP and they’re looking into the issue. I’m hoping they’ll be able to resolve the problem soon … Ellie Xxx 🌷💟🌺
