“We must find time to stop and thank the people who
make a difference in our lives.”
— John F. Kennedy
“To give thanks in solitude is enough.
Thanksgiving has wings and goes where it must go.
Your prayer knows much more about it than you do.”
— Victor Hugo
Happy thanks living, everyone
The merry month of November is a favorite month for all kinds of celebrations. Which are the big ones in your area?
Between Culture Day on November 3rd, a national holiday, and Labor Thanks Giving Day on the 23rd, another national holiday, Japan celebrates “Shichi-Go-San” or “Seven-Five-Three” on November 15th.
It’s a celebration of the rite of passage of young children for their growth and well-being. The celebrations are for boys ages 3 and 5 and girls ages 3 and 7.
Though the 15th is the official day, parents take to any weekend (mostly) or day to honor their little celebrants so that throughout the month, one will find children dressed in traditional kimonos or western formal wear visiting shrines with their parents.
One of the favorite traditions for the children is the gifts of “Chitose Ame” or “Thousand Year Candy.” These candies are typically long, red, and white, symbolizing health and longevity, and are gift-wrapped along with a crane and a turtle, representing long life.
The 15th is not a national holiday, but everyone seems to pool their efforts and do their celebrating by the 23rd or the weekend.
We celebrate the children of the world, the fall colors, the harvest, food, family and friends, and, of course, the entire labor force of society.
This year in my celebration, I want to include you, my readers, in this encouraging WordPress Community and offer my most heartfelt gratitude for being part of my Thanks Living. You guys are simply the best!
Thank you for being part of my livelihood. You make a difference in my life, and I have every confidence the wings of my Thanks and Giving will find you.
“My cup runneth over…” — Psalm 23:5
We all have much to celebrate, and I hope this month has been a stark reminder of all the Thanks Living we are capable of. May the celebration be an ongoing one every day.
I appreciate your readership.
I wish you abundance and miracles.

What delightful celebrations you have in November over there, Selma. This is so beautifully worded, too. I love the image and words you’ve added to the top of this blog post and the little girl at the shrine is so adorable. Thank you for sharing so many lovely days throughout this month. (I’m now keeping a journal every day and beginning with writing down at least three things I am grateful for each day. It starts the day on a positive note. I try to hold on to those things during the day, even when I’m feeling so overwhelmed by the negativity in my life at the moment). There are always things to be grateful for, and nothing in this world should be taken for granted. Much love to you, my friend Xx 💓💐💓
My sweet Ellie. I like the tone of this message. I wish you the world, dear one. Thanks for being in my life. Know that I’m here for you too.
