last week famished for naught-- I don't want to repeat momma told me; I wouldn't obey darn Ben! this week my energy I need conserve no more galavanting to-do list-- short spin, wait *** © 2021 selmamartin.com
A cinquain is a form of shape poetry that looks great centered on the page. It’s non-rhyming and has a syllabic structure of 2/4/6/8/2/. It requires drama to build in line four, with the turn occurring in line five (the most important line). This one is a mirror cinquain.
And in case you missed it, we’re talking spiders today.
Anna Nansi is a take from Anansi, The Spider, a beloved fictional character I grew up reading and loving. The poem comes from her journal entry… *wink*
The spiders that roam into your house, looking for a mate, are usually male. They’re typically fast runners, but they tend to freeze at a sudden switch of a light.
Anna Nansi followed Ben into a house last week– disregarding what her momma had told her– and didn’t like the experience. So, for this week, she’s sticking to the basics: spinning and waiting– a short to-do list that sounds boring. That’s why no one talks about Anna Nansi.
Still, whether you like them or not, spiders provide effective home pest control– something worth talking about.
Thanks for reading. You can read all the prompts here. And as always, I wish you miracles.
