and so, as you pull one from your wallet
habitually add to each a blessing
for the farmers who labored to grow it
the delivery people who trucked it in
the clerks who stocked it in shelves neatly
and now the cashier who’s tallying your bill
be intentional with your hard-earned money
make it work as an extension of you
ask it to bless everyone that it touches
then feel yourself becoming most blessed
for the ripple effect of sending out a blessing
creates more blessings with no logical end.

I ask that you read/see between the lines when you use the 1% rule. I used the commonality of a grocery store where you might need to stand at the cashier line for 1% of your time in the store, but if you have other places where you use currency — be it a check or a credit card transaction, send it out with one blessing to touch people’s life. In time, you might decide to increase that rule.

If you’re already doing that and need new venues to show more ‘heart’, here are four ideas to consider.
- Speak with your heart and let your face show it. Smile — even behind a mask, a genuine smile will reach your eyes. And your gentle tone will speak to the other person’s heart.
- Try not to choose who to be kind to. No one needs kindness more than the person who lacks it. Surprise them by giving them some of the kindness you have to offer.
- No need to pretend. If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing. Send them a blessing instead.
- Don’t expect anything in return for your kind gesture. It might not come then, but I promise you, the stars will align — you or someone you love will benefit one day.

Compounding at 1% a day, in 365 days, we’ll be 37 times better/stronger/more blessed/kinder.
