Hi, friends. Here we are again, hoping to proceed with the topic of beauty that I started
on last week. So far, we have Elegance as one attribute of beauty.
I want you to know how much I enjoyed reading your thoughts on the subject. Of course,
none of this is carved in stone, and everyone’s entitled to an opinion. To me, one’s
demeanor is paramount in the give and take of relationships.
This week, the other attribute I deem essential is Kindness
The kindness of spirit that’s part and parcel of every human.
- It comes through in how you treat and speak to others. It will show if you’re projecting from a genuine and sensitive place.
- It’s the ability to extend kindness, even to those you do not care for.
- It’s in every individual under the sun.
- It’s sometimes perceived as weakness by others, even as toxic, I’ve heard it said.
But to me, kindness is a vital attribute of beauty. - It’s something you exude after considering the points in the Sufi post of last month. Let me share the steps on the THINK poster my good friend Yvette M. Calleiro
(link to her website) shared with me.
THINK: T – is it true? H – is it hurtful? I – is it illegal? N – is it necessary? K – is it kind?
Our mental health would be so much healthier if everyone considered and abided
by these simple grounding questions.
- It’s about having the self-control to remain quiet when you don’t have something
nice to say to someone - It’s a practice that, when compounded at 1% a day, can yield returns of 37 times
better/stronger/more blessed/kinder in one year. Imagine! - It IS goodness!
And to me, no one exemplifies kindness (goodness and beauty) better than Mr. Rogers.
What a beauty-full human being!
There are many videos to choose from on YouTube: choose any and feel your soul
rejoice. The one I chose today is the shortest I could find– 3:55 minutes long.
Do you mind sharing who you think exemplifies kindness?
And how do you feel about kindness being one more attribute to beauty?
And, And, And: Marcus Aurelius— remember him? He went on to try to save us “with the sonorous undertone of his entire philosophy– his humming insistence on kindness as
the only effective antidote to all of life’s assaults.” ~ this week’s The Marginalian by Maria Popova.
Espresso is the name I decided on these short morsels of wisdom I
wish to share. They’re my humble attempt at helping you feel gladdened
and revitalized, and yes, sobered like when one drinks a shot of espresso.
If espresso is not what you like to consume, think of these as opportunities
for escapades to indulge in your favorite non-alcoholic drink. After all, it’s
meant to be a sobering moment. *wink*
Another wish is that you will share some of your short wisdom with me:
a link/pingback to your unique expressions (expressos) or espressos–
which I’ll then embed into the post to support you to hopefully gain more
exposure– or linger here with me long enough to enjoy a cuppa.

I hope to hear your thoughts again this week, and that you look forward to going down
the list of ten with me. Thanks for reading and I wish you miracles.

You know, I have found that be becoming quiet, even though I an bubbling inside to say something, I know it will fall upon deaf ears and could potentionally start an arguement resulting in more stress and pain for all involved. AND the choice to become quiet has always paid off.
I know this to be a fact too.
Why try to explain when it’s gonna fall on deaf ears? It brings good results and keeps me sane.
Thanks for the comment Annette. You’re precious to me. Xoxo
BTW, I purchased the printed version of the book Sally recommended. 100 words. Will review one day soon.
This is how I hope to pay it forward to my supporters here. 😁 👏 be well. I bless you. 👏
I loved Mr. Rogers growing up. His calm demeanor always made me feel safe and at peace. I find that having peace in one’s heart and soul makes spreading kindness much easier. As an empath, I am always sharing kindness with others because I understand how valuable that energy is, and I want others to embrace it as well. As a teacher, I know how powerful kindness can be. Troubled students tend to gravitate to me because they know I will always treat them with kindness, even when they are being rebellious and brooding in their angst. Sharing kindness helps keep me calm and at peace, so it’s a win-win for everyone. Great post, Selma! 🙂
Right? His demeanor made one feel safe and at peace. One felt loved and in a good place. I loved the ‘frequency he broadcasted in’ and always felt renewed just hearing him speak. Thanks for reading and commenting. I soooo appreciate you. Blessings. XoXo
Kindness definitely contributes to beauty of character…and it’s a “fruit” produced in us by the Holy Spirit! Thanks for the shot of espresso, Selma 😀
So it is. Exactly. A fruit.
Glad to share a shot with you, Lynn. Blessings.
You’re right, Selma: kindness costs nothing, and works wonders 💞
Works, works! And it’s never wasted. TYSVM for reading and commenting. Blessing you. XoXo
interesting Selma – kindness is not something I would have brought together with beauty though it is a beautiful thing when we are kind/experience kindness – It’s that old addage of “if you can walk about in someone else’s shoes” that is the key
You’re so right about that adage. And to me kindness is a beautiful enhancer. Speaks from one soul to another. Beautiful. Blessing you. XoXo
Wow. I love him so very much. That video is Divine. Thank You, Selma!!!! 🤗❤️😊
Aww. Same same. Love it. 👏 glad this one spoke to you. XoXo
Me too!!! 🥰
This is beautiful. Thanks Selma
Thanks, Sadje. You are beautiful 😍
Thank you so much dear friend
Wonderful post, Selma! Kindness is a much needed trait💕💖
Much needed and exists in everyone. More people need to let it out. XoXo
What a delightful post, Selma. Like you, I think kindness should be paramount in our lives. I do believe it’s an act of love and is indeed beautiful. I feel it’s so important to be kind to others on all occasions. An added bonus of giving out kindness is that it seems to come back to you, often similarly. It makes the world go around and makes the world a better place, too. I feel passionate about this. I’ve experienced others, particularly dear ones, offer kindness to me during my somewhat difficult life. I’m thinking particularly of my next-door neighbour, who has always been there for me with kind and encouraging words even in the face of chronic adversity. And, of course, my beloved Mum was always there for me and exuded kindness too. I’m eternally grateful to them both and have told them this, too. It’s important not to take valuable people in our lives for granted but to express our gratitude outwardly towards them.
I loved the video you shared – I haven’t heard of Mr Rogers – what a charming man. His video brought tears to my eyes and warmed my heart. I also read the post you highlighted with the words, ‘It’s a practice that, when compounded at 1% a day, can yield returns of 37 times better/stronger/more blessed/kinder in one year.’ Thank you for *your* kindness, Selma, and know that you are appreciated too. Xx 💖💐💖
Ellie, you’re a delight as a reader and writer (the extent of how much I know of you) but already I can tell you have the biggest and kindest heart.
Yes, yes I love people with kind hearts. And truest believe we come wired for kindness. I’ve written much about it.
Gosh, it was Mr Rogers who coined many phrases about kindness and love. Especially aimed at children. And how he fought to keep his show on the air. For the message. A real beauty-full soul, this man was.
Thanks for reading, Ellie and your comments are precious.
Be well, my sweet and thanks for being this sweet. Blessings.
Right? His demeanor made one feel safe and at peace. One felt loved and in a good place.
I loved the ‘frequency he broadcasted in’ and always felt renewed just hearing him speak.

“It’s sometimes perceived as weakness by others, even as toxic, I’ve heard it said.
But to me, kindness is a vital attribute of beauty.” But all of the above, absolutely.
Beauty also exists so much in broken things. And the desire to be put back together in some way. But the way you mend yourself, the way you choose to do it can so often be beautiful, I think.
Thank you for the food for thought <3 x
True true. In broken things as well. Xoxo
Beautiful article yes kindness is one of the most beautiful gift which we can show to anyone without any cost! Kindness is very powerful actually. Thanks for sharing with excellent video 🙂
Priti, my sweets. Glad you liked it. Grateful for the visit.
Thank you 💖
Great post Selma! A great pairing of Mr. Rogers and brownies.. I can’t think of a better representation of caring.
love this

“THINK:
T – is it true?
H – is it hurtful?
I – is it illegal?
N – is it necessary?
K – is it kind?”
Glad you thought this worthy of your time. Bless you.
Feeling my frequency soar just reading about kindness in your post here…beautiful words…and Mr. Rogers never disappoints!! Being kind is where it’s at! 👏👏💯
You refer to frequency and I love it. I respect the frequency. And each of us has the power to affect frequency of the world. it’s empowering: human intention influences it.
By thinking thoughts that foster love, non-violence, harmony, and positivity, we laser those high-frequency emotions to others.
“You are not a drop in the ocean; you are the entire ocean in a drop.” ~ Rumi
Now projecting
at the frequency of 432hz: the frequency of gratitude/of the earth.
Speaking of gratitude, Tricia. Thanks so much.
💗 saw you found me on Amazon. Gosh, thanks. The brevity of that snippet needs a bit explanation: joined an 8-wk class whose last assignment was to publish on Amazon. I compiled my anthology of 6-8 stories. But then failed with the formatting of the whole thing. In the end I opted for just one story and completed my assignment. THAT was the result.
Want to update it. Add to it but I am stuck.
Thanks for leaving me a piece of you there. You made me smile. It will not go without returning the favor. I’m a 🐢 but I’ll get there. Again, thanks.
My pleasure, Selma, that does make more sense now that the short story is part of a larger collection. I’m grateful to have so many talented friends on WP to read…it is a powerful frequency! 🥰✨🥂
Thanks, my sweet. I wish you miracles. XoXo
💖
Lovingkindness is a wonderful guide. To think before we speak, everyone should learn that – to listen first.
Look with all our senses to see if one word will do. I was listening to an ad for a podcast (I don’t do podcasts) but I thought this was interesting about advice (Hopefully I remember it correctly); 1) your advice isn’t as good as you think it is 2) giving advice isn’t really good management,” and there was a third thing… But I can’t remember it now. Maybe something like ‘Perhaps we should only give our advice when asked? But then we have to be careful since we may not know the whole ‘story’. Maybe something like the person who is asking for your advice really doesn’t want it? If I remember I’ll copy it down the next time I hear it. 😀
Always sweet. Thanks
🙂
Beautiful video for relationship. What value of kindness. Powerful write up it’s.
Always love receiving your thoughts. Thanks so much. Xoxo
Thank you so much Selma, you reply always sweet & kind., 😍🌹
