Hi friends, there are three reasons why this week I will practice more composure:
I went on for much too long last week,
These espressos are meant to be short,
This week, the essential attribute is Composure.
- It’s self-control. Life brings challenges, and without a sense of composure, it’s
easy to allow conflictual situations & unexpected outcomes to unnerve us. - It forms a basis for understanding the concept of less equals more:
we come to understand that the less we react, defend, explain,
the less fearful we become,
and that the less controlling the more command
we have over a situation.
- It allows us to stand tall with grace and calm in the face of challenges.
- It helps us not to be overly boastful when success is close.
- It helps us maintain a certain stillness in the face of life’s changes.
- It enhances beauty.
This week, I’d like to mention Mr. Rogers again, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They epitomize composure. Who else? Who could stand in composure next to these two
beauty-full men? Oh, yes, Volodymyr Zelenskyy… Barack Obama… And women?! Tell
me who.
Without accepting the fact that everything changes, we cannot
Shunryu Suzuki
find perfect composure. Unfortunately, although it is true, it is
difficult for us to accept it. Because we cannot accept the truth
of transience, we suffer.
The beauty of the soul shines out when a man
Aristotle
bears with composure one heavy mischance
after another, not because he does not feel them,
but because he is a man of high and heroic temper.
Espresso is the name I decided on these short morsels of wisdom I
wish to share. They’re my humble attempt at helping you feel gladdened
and revitalized, and yes, sobered like when one drinks a shot of espresso.
If espresso is not what you like to consume, think of these as opportunities
for escapades to indulge in your favorite non-alcoholic drink. After all, it’s
meant to be a sobering moment. *wink*
Another wish is that you will share some of your short wisdom with me:
a link/pingback to your unique expressions (expressos) or espressos–
which I’ll then embed into the post to support you to hopefully gain more
exposure– or linger here with me long enough to enjoy a cuppa.

drink my coffee hot. But if you want yours cold, I will make yours cold today. *smile*
I hope you enjoyed this week’s vital attribute.
Week 1: Elegance
Week 2: Kindness
Today: Composure
I still wish to hear your thoughts so please leave me a short comment.
Thanks for reading, dear ones.
UPDATE: Sadje @ Keep it Alive added her voice to the conversation, Yay!
Thanks, Sadje.
And if you’d like to add yours, please create a pingback to this post if you’re on
WordPress, and kindly check to confirm the pingback is there. If not, please manually
add your link in the comments so I can appreciate yours. Thanks so kindly
Stay cool and please drop in for a cuppa again next week.
I wish you miracles.

Thank you for enlightening us with your espresso’s, always so much to learn and so many wisdoms to seek from you dearest Selma. ❤️
I appreciate you coming to read, dear Daphny. Blessings and Shalom…
Blessings and shalom to you as well
I think when we admire someone… like Mr. Rogers (who is actually related to Tom Hanks who played him in the movie) it is like not visiting the kitchen of your favorite resturant – don’t do it!. We don’t always need to know the how and why something is done. I watched the movie about Mr. Rodgers… and it was an eye opener. And yet he too had to have his outlet for life’s disappointments.
Remaining calm and working together helps to stave off disappointments… It is ok to feel sadness. But not to let it consume you.
Beauty is like that book cover… one should not judge the outward appearance.
There’s depth in your words. Thanks. XoXo
Very enlightening. The aristotle quote has dragged me out of many a slump. Composure is so admirable in a person. I’m trying to practice it. *trying. Sorry I can’t write a pingback now. I would like to do so in future when things are less congested or when ive worked on handling them with composure😁🤗🤍
