Sadje, this week’s PoW: There is too much hopelessness in the world today,
so I want us all to write about ‘Hope’. The length and form are up to you.
Remember to make your poem hopeful and not hopeless!

This is a hopeful poem–I hope you can tell…
Hope is what will save us!

There Is Another Sky—It’s Called Hope

If I could tell you I would let you know*
where winds come from when they blow,
if you should weep when clowns air a show
but would you listen if I told you so

I know you feel the hopelessness,
the lawlessness, the brokenness
what will it take to reverse the mess
and return us all to wholesomeness

We live in a world where things are tough,
closer than ever but the seas are rough
just when you think you’ve seen enough
the rebuff confounds and engulfs

Every which way you turn to resurface
disbelief makes you squirm for the circus
and if you time out to discuss with purpose
absent are the calm; all are nervous

People are annoyed and exhausted
depleted, embittered, and thwarted
core values they have relinquished;
all is vexation, empathy extinguished

It seems the harder you try,
something else goes awry
and every funeral lacks a masonry
but for flies that try even as none cry…

With no end to the fright in sight
you must pack up and give up the fight
at the end of the tunnel, no light
you encounter more trouble in spite

Will there come awareness of our decay
If so, will they bear witness and live to say
that it was hope that paved the way
for mankind to survive another day
If I could tell you I would let you know.

figure out what you hope for. And the most
you can do is live inside that hope. Not
admire it from a distance but live right in
it, under its roof.”

This is such a beautiful poem Selma. The turnaround from hope to despair and hope again is brilliant.

your poem gives me hope, and that is a superpower

I like the way you ended on a questioning note, a sort of “open-ended” ending. Even in that, there is hope.

We will definitely not survive if we lose hope. Well said Selma. (K)

Commpassion, Courage and Cooperation all are needed, none should have to plead –
for equal rights to life a full and unfettered life. *sigh*

Each generation can claim some value, each can boast of new discoveries. Yet too many are lost within the limits set by those who think they know it all… *sigh*….

Hope a valualbe tool in each and every individual’s tool box of survival.
