Wea’ve Written Weekly: Something That Amuses

Dad jokes amuse me. The last one I heard from my neighbor is that he was on a seafood diet. It made me give a double take, befuddled—for an answer because I knew he was a bit iffy about seafood. But, but he beat me to a reply when he added that he only eats what he sees.

“I eat only the food that I see.” 🤣

Dad jokes amuse me.

No, seriously! That was so funny. Even as funny as lending an old annoying friend money.

Well—You know how they say that money talks, it’s true! I lent money to this annoying friend and never saw her a-gain! So yeah, money talks: Goodbye!

It was worth every penny. And what’s more, I enjoy every minute of it.

I hear she spends lots of time dodging me. That is good. And I really have a clean conscience over the result.

This amuses me too.

What about you—what amuses you?

Epistle Poem:

Epistle is a poetry form that reads like a letter or short note.

Epistolary poems can be in any form, such as free verse with no meter or rhyme, or of a more formal style with couplets and rhyming quatrains. It is totally up to the author. There are no hard and binding rules to follow. Writing an epistle is a fun way to write in loose form.

I hope you enjoyed my poem today.

As for the featured image, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was created by a dad poking fun at hilarity for hilarity sake. 🍶

Stay cool everyone and add a good belly laugh to your day.

My husband David is the king of Dad jokes. The only problem is he tells the same ones over and over. Is that part of the “dad-joke requirement”?

    1. Selma Martin

      David is King 👑 Yay.
      A treasure indeed. 👏🏽
I can’t say if it’s a requirement but I’d treasure him just the same. Or more!

Great fun piece Selma. Actually it makes me think of my husband and his dad, and uncle. They all share dad jokes and I think it is a very kind way of checking in with family every so often. I am thankful that they have that connection. It is a blessing. Yes indeed some poems get repeated over and over, but that in itself makes me laugh. Thanks for the big smile Selma. Many blessings kind friend. 🥰

    1. Selma Martin

That is wonderful, Joni. The repetition is precious. You’re surrounded by good people. Bless you.

      1. jonicaggiano

You too, my friend. I meant jokes not poems. Yes, I think there is a lot of joy where there is laughter. It makes my husband smile and that makes me smile too. Blessings to you on this Sunday. Lots of love ❤️

    1. Selma Martin

Aww. Thanks for agreeing with the Dad Jokes thing.

  13. murisopsis

Selma the only jokes I here around home are dad jokes!! Honestly, some are awful groaners but others dance on my funny bone!!

    1. Selma Martin

It’s good to give the dads a stage to shine. We need the balancing act or we Moms , with OUR ‘proper ways’ (is that left or right brain dunno) will get stressed out. 😰 no good no good. Yay for dad jokes.
      Thanks Val 🤗

  14. Deepthy

Haha, I love hearing dad jokes and watching people’s reactions to them! Fun poem and interesting image, Selma – the fourth ape must be the introvert of the group 😂❤️

  15. ben Alexander

That “seafood” joke is such a classic – I’ve always loved it! I’m on the same diet! 😀

This was a super fun read, Selma! <3

I also love a good dad joke! My kids enjoy the corniest jokes; my oldest son even checks “joke books” out of the library and reads them aloud to the car on our drives to school, lol.

    1. Selma Martin

How very cute, your son. Now you’ll never run out of laughs. 👏🏽

Thanks for stopping. Comments mean the world to me. Won't you please leave one?
