Wea’ve Written Weekly At W3, So Now You Must Go Talk To Alice

Ask Alice

Sitting beauts like
hookah-smoking
caterpillars–all!
Those used to be
crème de la crème,
the most prized find.
When you scoop one up
you’re valued as
The It: bric-a-brac!

Soon you absorb into that,
party like that,
your veneer reeks of that
and you find yourself
requiring things
and skills classic of that –
forgetting your beginnings
and vernacular!

Your brood has a
*present progressive stare
and mannerism of
the smokin’ ‘pilla’.
Now the sham has been outed
the phony too
clones of a time
that reigned too long…

Those are the least coveted;
most likely those want to
crawl across lines,
land with someone like you–
beg to be taken in
and trained.
Trained!
Imagine…

Be glad you’ve made it
this far, without one of those
be prudent not to
bum a ride with one–
forget the vogue of
crème de la crème–
to whet the fantasy
on the mirage wheel of fortune.

Um, what would Alice say about that?

In my year-long sojourn on the Medium Platform, I participated in a few enticing
prompts posted by different publications. This is the last one I responded to and
it came from a publication called, The Brain is A Noodle. I was happy with how
this resulted, and so I’m offering it to you now as my nonsense poem, the brainchild
of this week’s PoW, Lesley.

Lesley’s prompt guidelines

  • ASIDE– the *present progressive stare is my invented word.
But more than a word, it’s a state of being.
  • The Prompt on Medium:
Talk about something without naming it
  • It was smokin’ fun!

Cheeky. The vagueness of this nonsense poem might go a long way and probably
reveal to you that which terrifies you the most. Whatever arises from your
subconscious IS the response you’ll receive from Alice. I even bet it will
also relieve you of the pressure you’ve been carrying around for so long.

Thanks to Leslie for the lovely prompt that gave me
a platform where to reveal this ditty.

Blessings and Miracles Be!

      It does? Wow.
I once wrote a poem imitating the Jabberwocky form. Sheesh it was hard. 😜 that’s genius for you!! Inimitable!!
Thanks for being so sweet in your comments too. Xoxo

I tried to imitate the Jabberwocky form…I didn’t get to finish it. Hehe perhaps I’ll try again one of these days. But this did remind me of it. 😊

    “the smokin’ ‘pilla’.”

My favorite part. Hands down. Makes me think of false teachers, people who presume to know it all, but who are actually misleading.

Truly this would fit perfectly in Wonderland🙌

This is great Selma. It contains three of my favourite things: poking fun at pretenders, Alice, and the caterpillar.

Robbie, so happy to hear this. Three! I love it that you liked this one. Blessings. (this comment was in spam)

  10. Your whimsical wordplay
    Charms with zesty quirk,
    A symphony of syntax,
    Creating dreams anew,
    Jestful jibes and giggles,
    Linguistic dance unfolds,
    A linguistic panorama,
    Echoes Alice’s wonder.
    👍👏👌😊🙏

  11. Sassy

I love that you brought us back to Wonderland!
