WDYS Prompt 266 for December 9th

“Overinformed about everything
But not for retention purposes
Unless we can feel for another
Will we attain a life of purpose”
~ Selma

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a young boy – 7-8 years old, with a cloth duster in his hand, erasing something off a blackboard. In the background, we can perceive the environment of a classroom.
Waiting for your responses: Sadje

Artificial Intelligence is leading
—leading the classrooms of today
Coming alive at the tap of a screen
already replacing our faculty to think
… doing the thinking for us
Long gone are the days when we set
to memorizing
Long gone is the notion that hearts
inform brains
What if our ability to think was enhanced

reignited even,
by our facility to feel?
What if we changed the narrative
from I think, therefore
I am
to
I feel therefore I see you
I feel therefore I feel you
I feel therefore I am you
?

What if …
the final frontier

Great poem! I think a lot about AI these days, and it leads me to a lot of reminiscing about what the future will be like for my kids and my students.

They called it advancement but I can’t feel it as advancement yet.
Not when our children are losing some of the human capabilities that make them human. Let’s hope for the ability to feel to remain intact. Compassion too. It’s crucial.
Thanks for the comment, friend. Blessings.

the feelings component makes all the difference

    1. Selma Martin

Without feels we are without a compass and compassion. Thanks Beth.

My kids use iPads every day at school. When I was in school, I don’t think we were allowed to have electronics with us. I remember learning how to type the QWERTY keyboard, learning cursive, long division. Now some kids don’t know how to read the time on anything other than a digital clock.

      Melissa 🎵
Oh my, yes. The QWERTY routine. That was wild, man! And how we beamed when we got that right. Even with eyes closed! We were rad! Growin’ as we explored the wilderness. And long division&cursive—goodness… yes, yes! We lived a wild life. So sad our offspring know nothing about that kind of wildnessery!
Everyday… on their iPads. Oh my! And when “the system goes down” which can happen, you know, they are lost, entirely!
Do they even have blackboards in school? What for?
Thanks for adding your voice, dear Melissa. Bless you. 🤗

This is indeed a concern, especially in education sector where children are getting dependent on AI to finish their school assignments. A wonderful look back at the days when things were genuine and simple. Thanks for joining in my friend

This post made me pause for thought. I know that things change, and we all adapt or get kept behind. But I have seen the decline of critical thinking skills, and the ability to write legibly… even the art of holding a good conversation.
This is such a thought provoking piece, Selma.

We are definitely going into the what if with AI, Selma.

    1. Selma Martin

It’s a sad situation. We need more humans with heart to help keep humanity’s pulse going.
Thanks for reading my lovely friend. 🤗
