because it was grassy and wanted wear
I entered the premises hauling a prayer
I knew the owner had a drama flair
yet knowing how way leads on to way,
scoured the shrubbery for any foul play
I’m a fool for caring, it’s never a field day
I waded through Goathead along the way
to where it bent in the undergrowth
loathing the burry weeds stuck on my clothes
arrived at the edge and for a moment I froze
I couldn’t believe it: the house, full of crows!
I doubt (ed) (if) I should ever come back.

Reminds me a little of a poem in your book… am I wrong?
Could be. I’m thinking perhaps the one titled The House?
