‘Cento Love’, a cento poem by Celestial Kreationz
II. Celestial’s prompt guidelines
This image is of a whimsical clock with expressive, animated faces around it,
showing various emotions. The clock itself has a joyful, silly smile.
- Create a limerick inspired by the image above.
How to write a limerick
- Create an AABBA rhyme scheme. A limerick has five lines. The first, second, and fifth line should rhyme
with each other. This is rhyme “A.” To create rhyme “B,” rhyme the third and fourth lines with each other.
“A” and “B” should be different. - Use a syllable scheme. In addition to rhyme, the poem should follow a syllable scheme where the first,
second, and fifth lines have eight or nine syllables. The third and fourth lines will have five or six syllables. - Follow a meter. The meter of the limerick is the number of beats, or stressed syllables, in each line. A
limerick will follow a meter that goes 3, 3, 2, 2, 3. You can also use “da” for unstressed syllables and “DUM”
for stressed syllables.

‘Tis True, ‘Tis True
You know ‘bout Mom who lived in a shoe.
Had too many kids—gasp! What to do?
Fed, spanked, sent them to bed…
” ‘Tis true,” somebody said.
What’d you do if this betides you?
Heard ‘bout the Mom who lived in a clock?
She ruled out walks, imagine the shock!
Where to buy shoes—hadn’t a clue.
How’d you deem if it happ’d to you?
Bear in mind—Mom ain’t got no frock!
。。。
Yeah, what would you do if this happened to you?
