Readying ourselves for a walk, Hubs sits fidgeting with one shoe and looking worried: the corn on his heel (from wearing new shoes) could use a band-aid. "*Getto da zé!: I’ll get you one," I offer kindly. "Don’t bring back one of those Pickachu band-aids," he says meekly, almost imploring. A bandaid is a bandaid. Besides who would know? Who cares!? I shake my head. "Oh, no," I reply, "we used up all the Pickachu a long time ago...." I search in the old kiss-boo-boos-kit that needs a good cleaning and find some useful ones. "Getto da zé!" I yell excitedly and rush to hand over my find, "all we have now are the Harry Potter!" We laugh: how long will this last? Must we really clean out that kit? (Find your answer in the TANKA below or not.)
*In the Japanese version of Pocket Monsters anime, the characters celebrate their wins
by yelling, Pokemon, getto da zé: I got one! Or, I’ll get one! — as used in the dialogue.
um, an aside: we both wore new shoes at our son’s wedding. *wink* (scroll down for
Tanka).

This is the story I texted to my kids this morning, and after reading the prompt at
Colleen’s Wordcraft for tanka Tuesday decided to share it with you all. useful:
a useful phrase… Thanks, Kerfe. And as a hoarder, I present you with the leftover
lines from the tanka:
EXCESS need we get it right? old habits die hard how long will it last rekindles old flames Off with their big heads!

Lols. Those old bad-aids obviously bring you both many laughs, so I’m all for keeping them! Excess or not! Love this fun response to the prompt, Selma 💕🙂
I like it that you agree I should keep them. I will.
Glad you thought it fit the prompt. I had my doubts but did it anyway. 😅
All the feels. I am not there yet, but I feel that coming and each mess I stumble upon now is becoming more and more precious.
Holy moments, Bridgette. Enjoy them as they happen. XoXo
Those character band-aids are known to promote faster healing. Thanks for the smiles, Selma.
Those band aids will stay and be used up. hehe. We get our funnies where we can. Life is to lovely to be grouch and why waste a perfectly good band aid, right? Thanks K. I bless you. xoxo
I loved the story and the poem, Selma! Thank you for the smiles — and hang on to your character bandaids. They are priceless. 😁
So glad to have gifted you a smile. Those band aids will stay, haha and make us laugh more for days to come. Thanks for reaading and commenting. I bless you, Gwen. xoxo
This was great, Selma! You made me laugh, thinking of the character band-aids I used to buy for my son. 🙂

I had a great laugh at your character bandaids. I think you should keep them too! Why not? We all need a little laughter in our lives. Great tanka, Selma. <3
This seals it for me, Colleen. Glad to have gifted you a laugh with the band aids story. And thanks for thinking fit to keep them too. I will. We have a waste not policy… MOTTAINAI I bless you and wish you miracles. xoxo
I love it, Selma. We’re kindred spirits… waste not, want not. <3
At last, Selma, I’m just beginning to catch up with reading some of the blogs I’ve missed while I’ve been poorly. Sorry I’ve missed so many of yours too. Some I read and liked because I genuinely enjoyed them, but my brain wouldn’t let me fathom any understandable comments. It’s good to be back, although I’m still battling an infection from my operation. I’m on my second course of antibiotics, so hopefully, that’ll see it off.
I really liked this Tanka – I hadn’t heard of that word before, so I had to Google it! It makes sense now. I loved the story that accompanied your poem too. One of my granddaughters is also mad about anime, and my young grandson would love those Harry Potter sticking plasters. I loved the photo of the plastered thumb. Love to you, dear Selma xx 💖
Oh, Ellie, you have been unwell. I hope a full recovery comes soon. I’m sure you’re getting the help that will lead to that.
The tanka– haha. soooo glad you enjoyed it my friend. And I see you have anime fans in the family. How lovely. The ones I have are old. They are still useful, so we will not waste. Love you dearly too, my sweet. I’m sending you good healing vibes, blessings and I wish you godspeed and miracles too. xoxo
Oh! Does this mean that the wedding just happened? 😮 Congratulations all around! And sooo glad that you didn’t have to go to that dreaded trip abroad after all.
The wedding just happened. Was busy all around. And yes, the pause of that trip came as a blessing. Thanks for reading. 💗
Oh, just too cute. Waste not want not. I finally had to get rid of some old frog image boo boo covers because they just were soooo old that the clue had dried up. It is fun to find other images… I had some when my grands were little and a kiss just wasn’t enough. Once I cut up a few of the plain ones as my own young son wanted to play Dr. with some of his plastic toy animals!!
Best to the Bride and Groom. May they have a wonderful long life together!
Thanks, Jules. For the congratulations and the story. Thanks. Xozoy
Thanks for the smiles, Selma. Who doesn’t love character band-aids!
Loved bonding over band-aids. ❤️
💗 🧖🏽♀️showering you with blessings.
