The Bellflowers: Guardians of My Smile #poetry #TankaTuesday

Good morning sunshine
is the greeting I give her
beguile her a smile

the mirrored girl takes notice
soon regales me with a smirk

knows the pangs I feel
my backache, her torment too
Kikyo holds the clue

guardian of loyal smiles
we'll pluck it back tomorrow

Green and Morass in synonym form translate to gardening and dilemma to me.
With all the gardening and weeding I’ve been occupied with, there are days
when I feel trapped indoors with lower back complaints. Yare, yare!

And so I’m reminded of something Thich Nhat Hanh loved talking about.

 — The source of a true smile is an awakened mind.
 — If you have lost your smile and yet are still capable
of seeing that a dandelion is keeping it for you, the situation
is not bad. You still have enough mindfulness that the smile is there.

In my case, Kikyo, (the Bellflowers) are the custodians of my smiles this time.
Enjoy the two solo-renga.

Smiling helps you approach the day with gentleness and understanding. — Thich Nhat Hanh

      Thanks, Elizabeth.

So all those flowers are holding your smile for you. You’ll have enough to claim every time.
And you’ll have plenty for people who come to visit as well. What joy!

      Love that. Be well. xoxo
