Heartfelt Reflections in Moving Poetry that Touches the Depths of Your Soul.
“In The Shadow of Rainbows,” Selma Martin’s debut poetry collection, is certainly a
precious gem, a gift for those who believe in the connection with nature and the purity
of human beings. Selma’s collection is a treasure trove of reflection and empathy,
inviting us to sink into a world where we can feel and see clearly from our hearts.
From the very first page of dedication, where Selma Martin tenderly dedicated her
poetry to us to every poem that prevailed through the pages, I was drawn into a world
where nature’s voices are keenly heard and soul connection messages are presented.
Selma’s kindness and innocence shine through in every verse, as she brings to light the
small, often overlooked details of daily life. Her ability to infuse these moments with
deep emotion and insight allowed me to see the world through her gentle, observant
eyes.
One of the most striking features of the poet’s collection is her ability to evoke
powerful emotions and memories. For example, The poems “When Death Comes” and
“Death” spoke deeply to my heart as I often reflect on the reason for our existence on
earth, and why we all have to die one day, and I loved the verse “perhaps there’s no
darkness in death; maybe death is about light…”
Also, “Listen” reminded me of my inner voices, which sometimes prevented me from
resting or reflecting.
“Golden Durability” evoked cherished memories; it moved me to tears as I remembered
my mother and her sad memories.
The deep emotion and heartfelt sincerity of Selma Martin’s words make each poem a
touching experience. It is a journey not just through poetry but through the very essence of what it means to be alive and connected to the whole world around us.
What was remarkable about this book was that I read it several times, and each time I
understood the poems differently—it was as if there was pure magic in Selma’s voice.
One thing’s for sure, and that is that Selma Martin writes from the heart, and that’s
what can cause such magic.
I highly recommend this breathtaking poetry book, full of deep emotions and pertinent
reflections, to anyone in love with life and looking for life lessons wrapped in eloquent
poetry.
