This time I won't let it vanish like the dream that it seemed before but I have to act all normal to not warn I was on to her Lain in bed, pretending to sleep corpse-like, I cope till twilight comes but try as I do, I miss her as next I peek she was right there Seated at the desk like last night the clock shows, just past 3 a.m. I am sure I closed the curtains now drawn dim light filters right through I hear the light drizzle outside heavy cloud cover serves me none still, I see the girl's silhouette when she turns to me, her face blurs But then a streak, a cat perhaps sends my heart to my throat racing she hears it-- the sound of my heart so she rises, glides to depart And the door readies to meet her in a second, swallows her up flitting, I throw off the covers at the desk wolf her afterglow *** © 2021 selmamartin.com
