Does this picture inspire you to write something? …
*
For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a billboard on which the quote;
“You are beautiful” is written in the form of many colorful post-it notes. There are
faint images of buildings in the background.
Sadje awaits your responses.
*
many times, often, on end
Poetry keeps vigil with me
frequently, not yet minutes to
six wakes me to jot down her mind
—better than when she plays dead—
you, Poetry, are beautiful!
*
Fold of my flesh- reared in my womb,
ever meshed with all that blooms
I swathe you in softness, kiss your
baldness, your smallness salute
you are beautiful, you are
beautiful–beautiful you are!
*
By and by, when the morning finds
me again: your hand in mine
there’s nowhere I’d rather rise
than in this glow under your light
bless this day, fill us with pure grace
—you’re beautiful by and by
*
Steadfast star, thing of beauty,
bind me to you in spite of all
full of praise, lost in a maze
I gaze, I gaze with reverence
Mother Earth, sleepless Eremite—
quickens my pulse, your beauty.

Thanks for the prompt, Sadje, and thanks so much to all for reading.
And a fifth sijo, just for you:
You are like an April day
…welcome, cool, gay: a white lily!
‘Tis not new, the magic hand of
chance that you are: fairy-power.
My dearest, you’re my ripple—for
ever we dissolve in beauty
Xo, Selma
