Merry Old Christmas is Here

“Christmas itself may be called
into question
If carried so far
it creates indigestion.”
~ Anonymous

What say you, dear reader? Would something like a month (and a half) of Christmas
give you indigestion? I hope not.

I’ve told you before that the country that raised me boasted of one season throughout
the year, but perhaps it was because we wished for snow so much, but at Christmas
time, we often pulled out sweaters to ward off the chill.

At my house, we loved listening to carols and cold country stories of Christmas throughout the ‘season’ that lasted from the first Advent Sunday (there are four on the countdown to Christmas Day) to January 6th, Epiphany (when the three kings arrived at
the manger). We never got indigestion. *wink*

I found a two-hour-long Librivox audiobook I wish to share. The stories, read by various artists, are written by Washington Irving. Enjoy this English Old Christmas when you can. It goes with my blessing.

To you, who celebrate Christmas in December,
Merry Christmas;
Happy Christmas;
Happy Holidays!
And if Christmas is not your cup of tea, I understand.

There are several holidays that fall in the month of December
besides Christmas; namely, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice,
and the newly secular HumanLight.

To you all, whichever way it is you celebrate,
I want to wish you Happy/Super/Joyous December Celebrations.

      Beautiful sentiment, Radhika. May the season help us all to heal, indeed. And May we find joy to carry us into the new year with its new set of trials. Thanks so much for the comment. I bless you. xo

      Blessed Advent and Christmas to you as well. And may the coming year be nothing like these last two years where that virus holds us back some. Thanks for the greeting. I love it. xoxo.

  5. Ingrid

    I’m afraid a month of Christmas always gives me indigestion, but I do it anyway because I have young kids 🎅🏻

    1. Selma Martin

      haha. You are a funny one. But I do understand how that could give one indigestion for sure. I also understand the sacrifices parents make for their children. Don’t stress, Ingrid. Think of it as prolonging incidents for your kids to savor the magic that they can still see. In time, they will grow out of it (and you’ll miss it then). Be well dear one. I wish you fortitude and miracles. xo

  7. Nope, Not Pam

    I’m not a Christmas person, it’s just another day, but I do enjoy my break from work

    1. Selma Martin

      No judgment here. I on the otherhand am a very Christmas person. Enjoy your December the way you like everyday, Not Pam. And may everything you do bring you immense joy and merriment. Here’s wishing you miracles too. xo
