These ol’ bandaids of Pikachu me, oh my oh They gotta go, the kids are gone— no more ouchies Birthday balloons with confetti inside, now stuck to scissors Those gotta go, too— make more room for manuscripts, oh The jambalaya of this 'n that of forgotten objects A Yu-Gi-Oh card stuck to permission-slip brings me remembrance Of long ago when I went mad— darn slip of paper Of that excursion, kids couldn’t go on Argh— now I find it! Souvenirs, rubber bands, bottle-openers; ponytail holder, chapped lip balm, first pair o' glasses Postage stamps, angel wings —they gotta go, too Son of a gun, I’ll have more room for poetry write-ups. *** © 2021 selmamartin.com

I love the busyness of your poem, Selma, the hints of wistfulness in ‘the kids are gone—no more ouchies’ and the frustration or excitement conveyed by short lines and exclamation marks. I also love The phrase ‘ jambalaya of this ‘n that’.
