Hello, dear friends.
Something like eight months ago, after going through a fantastic spring and
preparing for summer, I participated in a photo challenge. Entered this ‘prayer.’
Today, still in the hands of Father Winter, and as we shovel snow, I wish to share that prayer once again. Hope you enjoy it this second time around.
A Prayer It's at moments like this that I come to remember how phenomenally blessed our talismanic home is It's at moments like this that my lips take to reciting prayers of gratitude, of adoration prayers of hope and of grace Oh, fertile earth gleaming ever so lovely under one radiant sun-- your falls, your ridges, your rivers, your streams they give me moments of pleasure, where, --I lose my breath until I turn to witness the rest of you --regain my breath just to lose it again. What did we do to deserve you when somewhere not far from here our brethren are deprived of your abundance? Oh, Mother Earth, may we always remember-- clean water is more important than the shampoos harming our rivers may we always remember-- to not waste, to NEVER* squander, to not pollute; to protect and make it last. Gaia, grant us enough life to reflect. You've brought us to our knees, put us all in isolation, now put a spell on us more motive (think 'balance') to remember this land belongs to them too-- nurtured under the yon glaring, illimitably distant sun-- in the same talismanic Mother Earth. Oh, fertile earth may we come to attach more heart more brains for without one or the other it will all be in vain help us always to remember -- in gratitude, and awe. Amen ***
The scene on the lovely picture, I’ve never* seen that one before– I
might never* visit that region but just knowing it exists excites my soul.
But I’ve seen many like it. And every time, I’m moved to tears and wish for
everyone to see it. And so it is that I sit here to pen these words to
share my enthusiasm on the world wide web that tends to reach people with
big hearts.
The awareness poem that came through me on this day, has been preceded
by others like it. If you care to read one more that only graced the
surface on the WWW, I invite you to read it here: Birthing A New World.
What an achingly beautiful world we share. May we learn not to squander.
I’m braving it and merging on two challenges for The Daily Spur where the word
of the week is “never” (*full caps in the poem)
and the other for week 47 of the photo challenge of Lynn’s Tuesday Photo Prompt.
Anyone can join, and so I’m giving it a try. (hope it’s not too late).
What about you? How does the photo prompt make you feel? I really wish
to know.
Your challenge or writing prompt is this: what emotions or feelings get evoked or aroused in you when you look at this photograph taken by Lynn Remember, the goal isn't necessarily to tell me and others exactly what the picture is. The creative goal for all of us is "what does the picture evoke in you; what emotion; feeling; memory or whatever it may be – what does it arouse in you and to share it that with others."
