Empyreal blue dazes Windchill freezes me mid-stride Lilting leaves whirl suspended Slant, balmy sun taps my back Obsidian flow, scrumptious Vie for rivets of my time Ephemeral symphony, Impermanent like dreaming— Flare the sidewalks of my soul

Meanwhile, let us have a sip of tea.

The afternoon glow is brightening the bamboos,
the fountains are bubbling with delight,
the soughing of the pines is heard in our kettle.
Let us dream of evanescence, and linger in
the beautiful foolishness of things. – Okakura Kakuzo
The Empyreal blue of the sky dazzles me. The ephemeral beauty of each passing
moment gives me pause and wonder. It always has, but I hope to stop for
such moments this year to grant them more prominence.
For the writing of this post, I plucked inspiration from the sun, cold sea breeze, and the sky in how they helped create a symphony on earthen leaves on the sidewalk.
I’m not getting any younger, and so on the occasion of the year of the water tiger,
my sign in the Chinese Zodiac, I hope to write more about the awe I find in ordinary
instances at this juncture of my life.
The issues our world faces today are far too significant for me to comprehend, with a
cacophony of contrary viewpoints and recriminations. They concern me and disquiet me too, and you can count on me to add to the discourse when I have something to say.
Far be it from me to want to add anything by grand moralizing. For that, you’ll need to look elsewhere. But I believe in adding to the collective positive account of the world, so I will be doing that to help balance things out: for my children and you and your children and all future generations.
Note: The title is not an oversight, as I believe in the permanence of lived moments. We tend to remember details of hurtful events of the past; we make them permanent. So, why not make lovely evanescence moments permanent as well? They can help us heal and, in turn, help heal our world. I hope you agree.

I agree! Thank you for balancing things out for your children and me! I enjoy these two photos next to each other very much too. Tres stylish!
You, dear friend are the inspiration for more pictures. I don’t know how you fit them in there, and much less how you add text inside. I will learn when I’m ready, I guess. The novelty of snow and the long long holiday we had has made me drag my feet. I love it, but can’t reclaim the semblance of a rhythm. Forgive. And today I wrote a haiku. I hope you read it later when it goes live. It explains some of what’s happening to me. No need to worry… we are fine. I bless you. And, Oh yes, I’m trying to balance things for all of us. hehe. Thanks for reading. I wish you miracles.
Every blog theme is different regarding photos and galleries. Much “fun” with discovering the rules of yours. It can be a bit infuriating.

Beautiful post.
So those were the right foot photos you were talking about, ha ha! Lovely, Selma 🙂
Precious of you to remember that conversation. Yes, they are. Those are the photos. Glad you liked them. Yay!!
