I mean frightened, all right! up the shoulders, down the spine in the budding morrow of night shivers the sinew of the heart like startles at 3 a. m. sharp but don't just stand there darling dear in the griddle of the middle throw a giggle to start a wiggle reminisce of the hustle bustle, the sinew heals a frightened heart and as soon as she said that rose a noise, a gladsome joy with an infernal host of horns the sentry, standoffish, killed the lights the assembly was shocked into silence. © selma
The NaPoWriMo Prompt for Day Twenty-Nine
I am not sure I understood how to work on this prompt.
Start by reading Alberto Rios’s poem “Perfect for Any Occasion.” Now, write your own two-part poem that focuses on a food or type of meal. At some point in the poem, describe the food or meal as if it were a specific kind of person. Give the food/meal at least one line of spoken dialogue.
So I went off prompt and wrote based on this prompt instead. 😉
The prompt #52 guidelines for W3
- Write a poem of at least six lines that’s heavy on consonance, assonance, or both;
- Consonance: repetition of identical consonant sounds;
- Assonance: repetition of similar vowel sounds.
Thanks so much for reading, and happy national poetry writing month.

Thanks for reading, dear David. Thnks.
You are amazing and so creative. I know I’ve said this before, but you inspire me to keep pressing on with my poetry.
xoxo
Aww, dear Kathryn. I am so grateful for you in my life. YOU inspire ME to keep going. I bless you, my friend. (I’m trying to catch up, some now… )
Good one Selma.
Thanks, dear Sadje. Blessings and a hug for you today. xoxo
You’re welcome
So amazing! Well written, Selma💗
Deeksha, dearest. Thanks for reading and commenting. I bless you
Nice write Selma!
Thanks, Raj. Glad you enjoyed it.
I love it!
Makes me smile to know you loved my first erasure poem, dear Barbara. Thanks, dearly. xoxo
This poem has great rhythm. That second stanza was fun to read.
Makes so happy to know this one resonated so with you, dear Heather. I bless you. Have a happy weekend. Blessings.
You most definitely have poured yourself into your poetry this month, as you do. I am a huge fan of Alberto Rios. Love this!
Thanks, dear Michele Lee. Yes, I poured my heart into poetry this month, indeed. hehe. This was my first encounter with the great Alberto Rios. I’m so impressed with you. Stay sweet. Bless you.
You are welcome, Selma. You are generous! It’s all a blessing. 🙏🏻🌸
I love this Selma and your blackout piece – I’m a big fan of found poetry. I have started a project on an old book I picked up and am gradually going through every other page to ‘find’ poems I find it’s quite therapeutic 🙂
Aww, it’s encouraging to know that you, who love these blackout gems, take a liking to mine. I’m so encouraged by your words. Thanks so much. I bless you, Poetisatinta xoxo
This was fun to read, Selma! Can’t say it made much sense, but it tickled my funny bone! <3
Tickles your funny bone– that’s so good for me. hehe. Happy. Thanks, Cheryl.
I’m not sure I understood it, but I kind of felt it – feels like the sort of thing that goes bump in the night (maybe a rumbly in the tumbly?) and a laugh and a fright – at any rate, I liked your artwork, too.
He, he, dear Holly. like a thing that goes bump in the night… I like that. Don’t try to understand, it’s nonsense really. But for the artsy thing that resulted. Thanks for reading and commenting. xoxo
the sinew heals a frightened heart❤️
Melissa, thanks so much for reading and commenting, dear one. I bless you.
I love all the movement in that second stanza especially. (K)
Thanks, dear K. The beef in the middle– hehe. Thanks for liking that. xoxo
A fun one to read aloud!
Aww, read aloud: I like what you said. Thanks, Murisopsis, dearest.
Your poem is intriguing and thought-provoking—how to overcome fear. In contrast, I love the humour in your light-hearted use of wiggle and giggle.
wiggle-giggle. hehe. Thanks, Lesley dearest. I appreciate the visit.
😊💖
That was great, Selma! I loved it!

Yve, great?! hehe, thanks so much my sweet. xoxo
Haha! I love your erasure poem!! Your shocked assembly is alive and properly terrified: “Oh, what the poet will do next?” 😉
My assembly is properly shocked in the darkness, indeed. hehe. When the juice is low one needs to improvise. HAHAHAH! Thanks for being here, dear friend. I bless you.
Truly a great capture in poetry Selma.. Bravo! 🎉
Low on diesel fuel, I was– haha. Glad you liked it, my friend– the shocked assembly!
🤣😅💕loved it! 🙌

Really love the line “griddle of the middle”! It has a great sound. Nicely done.
I love your erasure and drawing, Selma! Well done! Of course, I enjoyed your poem too but the erasure really did it for me. Those little faces! 🙂
Thanks. Grateful 🥹
