no wicked players as God is witness
Bang ❗️ tried to fit this poem into a 44-word quadrille for dVerse but failed. I went from 83 words to 55 and gave up. Oh well. 🤷🏽♀️ I’ll try harder next time.
…
The east wind is specifically designated as the “wind of the Lord” (Hosea 13:15),
symbolizing his might and destructive power over the wicked.
…
no wicked players in this house
none, as God is witness
yet suddenly
the easterly shifted;
a southerly
eddied in
bang!
first, the first-uncle
bang!
second, the new dad
at which point all plans collided
with the friagem of the Antarctic
until a third echoed
—bang!
succombered the new grandma
plummeting to below zero (55 words)
…
there are no wicked players in this house
no wicked players as God is witness
yet all of a sudden,
the easterly shifted
and an arrogant southerly
eddied into our midst
bang, bang, bang!
first, the first-uncle
bang, bang, bang!
second, succumbed the new dad
(which hurt more than gasping for air)
at which point all plans collided
with the friagem of the Antarctic
until there came a third that echoed
—bang!
thus succombered a sombre
grandmother who plummeted
to below zero (83 words)
…
life happens when one’s lost in reverie,
preoccupied making plans,
best to wipe the tears and proceed with calm
—a newborn is an angel come straight from
God’s nursery.

Thanks dear friends. What I mean in the poem is that our plans of having our newborn grandchild at our “clean” home straight after mother & child’s week in the hospital getting to know each other, did not come to be. During their absence, three members caught the flu. 🤒 We’re going to spend the holidays making up for lost times. Please try not to miss me too much if I disappear suddenly.
Bless you all.
