Dectina Refrain: Be Kind to Your Heart

Still
dear mind,
and listen
to the tempo
of our faithful heart
that beats despite the hurt
through seasons of disconcert
when it'd be wiser to give up,
but does not: persisting to keep time.
Still dear mind, and listen to the tempo.

Dectina Refrain: This form was invented by Marion Friedenthal and named ‘Dectina
Refrain’ by Luke Prater. It’s written with your syllables going: 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10.
Your 10th line comprises your first four lines as one stand-alone line.

      Ahh. I was so smitten by yours the moment I read it. I love forms. Not all, the Sestina is a no no for me. Pantoum, iffy. And then earlier I read about a blue poem something or the other¿? Barbara, the woman who rocked the style is phenomenal but I’m sure I cannot do that form. And others 😞 but I’ll keep galumphing in syllabic poetry. I like it here. Thanks for the inspiration.           Lovely to be in this sphere galumphing: frolicking even, in poetry. I’m beyond happy. Val had some amazing list of 30 poetry forms to try in April. I probably tried four or five and promised to return. Haven’t. It’s just that, like the flowers, more and more forms keep blooming every day. Cannot try them all but I want to.
