Into the nothingness of noise
I strain to voice my cares with you
Into the scornful sea that drowns
My dreams and cares, to you unknowns
Yet still, I labor night and morn
To reach the one who smiles no more
The grass below, the sky above
I’m here and I do it for you, my love
Last night you popped into my dream
A shadow barely— I recognized you
And when your shadow vanished in the crowd
The spot was wet where you stood cowed
You’re the consumer of your woes
That rise and linger like storm-clouds
You know I’m here but in your stifled throes
You choose to scorn and imitate the rogues
I know you haven’t smiled in ages
You find your queen bed vexing when you lie
Bah humbug! My old, disgruntled friend
The green grass below, blue sky above
The clock ticks and you’re running amok

oh what beautiful imagery my friend! Bravo! 💖💖
It’s hard to watch someone be miserable, but you’ve done well with your poem, Selma. Perhaps your friend will notice the blue sky. Life’s too short to worry long about anything. I love your response about not worrying about how crooked your ducks align! Straight lines are boring, and they’re ducks!
hehe. yes, duck! Thanks so much for reading, JoAnna. Stay sweet and cool as always. xoxo
