Ah, angry brother-- at last, a realization! Bouquets of bitterness will not get you to the end Crepuscular beast challenged, jarred to reassess life Down on scraped knees, but dismissive, you bow in the dark Ever the predator, ready to lunge at succor; Flustered, riled. A sunbeam will find a gap to shine through, Gyrate you tenderly; in nostalgia engulf you Heaven bound, as if in your mother's arms once again Inch by inch, slow surrender as you're going higher Juices of knowledge seeped in assimilation flow Kiltered-- you're in kilter. Make no miscalculations Love has righted your skewed lenses and leading you home Mists part-- shows the way the deeper you dare to venture Never one to steer you wrong, Love's always the right choice Opens portal in crevices where none existed Prisms arise from places you never saw angled so Quips drop-- your being knows the lightness of existing Righting the old curve that had been gnawing at your core Straight you stand; an inexorable force of goodness Tenacious your resolve-- it's etched in your demeanor Unhesitating in Nirvana, you are stalwart Vibrational alignment to Source energy-- whorl Whopping warm tears gallop fast down to your fevered cheeks Xenial, you x-ray your space as if a new world Year of collective awareness-- don't let it pass by Zealed! Ah, old angry brother, you are whole and Zenned now. *** © 2021 selmamartin.com
I struggled with the prompt today, so I challenged myself to revise an old poem and turn it into a metered abecedarian poetry.
After giving the Alexandrine a considerable amount of attention, I considered a rondel (a variation of a rondeau, I’m told); I abandoned the idea and ended up metering every line with 13 syllables. Precisely.
This exercise practically took me all evening to accomplish. Phew! But it was fun.
Considering presenting this one to my poetry peeps (I’m feeling ready to call them my peeps; hope they don’t find me cheeky) at Colleen’s Word Craft ~ Prose and Poetry, as #syllabicpoetry #prose for #TankaTuesday Challenge 220 #PoetsChoice.
Thanks for coming by to read it, and as always, I wish you miracles.
