Abhanga Poem for #TankaTuesday Specific Form Poetry Challenge No. 260

IMPERMANENCE

Worried fairies gather
like stardust in the night
insist I get it right
I moan and gasp

feelings of confusion
confound-- my jaw goes lax
I see Moon drip like wax
dissolving fast

fairies rush to patch him
big dolly gone balmy
stardust wabi-sabi
will he endure?

we need to act right now
lest we all comatose
and kiss this life adios
forevermore

surreal world upheaval
a lived meltdown of doom
for which none is immune
as time ticks on

measure carbon footprints
adjust and switch off too
think more of CO2
green energy
***

This post is for Colleen’s Word Craft Prose & Poetry– Tanka Tuesday Challenge where we’re working with a specific form called Abhanga.

The Abhanga is a Marathi form, Marathi being one of the major languages of India. It is the official language of Maharashtra and is also spoken in several neighboring states in the west of the country, including Goa and Karnataka. The form is simply described as four lines, with syllable counts of 6, 6, 6, 4, and rhymes on L2 and L3. It’s customary to title it. I present you with a series. “Impermanence” Hope you enjoy it.
