Also, attempting to copy what I saw Sadje of Keep it Alive and David of ben Alexander reply to for the prompt at W3 #38 Computer Generated Poems at The Skeptish’s Kaddish — to see how I liked it…

Well, I couldn’t do a thing on the provided website.

Yes, it showed me haiku, but I hoped it would allow me to provide the words I wanted
to include in the haiku generator. It didn’t, so I’m giving up on that. Sorry, David and
Denise DeVries (it’s not you, it’s me).

About my words and image

Last Monday in Japan, the country celebrated its young with a national holiday.
In my area, we had a pleasant halcyon day decorated by young ladies in silk kimonos
and young men in traditional wear– but the young men dressed traditionally were few;
most opted for western suits. But the ladies– they were all dressed like princesses.

Overall, it was a lovely day of rest and taking photographs. And so today, my photo of
that day served the senryu I wrote for you for the FLOCK prompt. Thanks, Sheryl.

Love your poem Selma. This was a difficult prompt to work with.

I started by thinking of birds of a feather flock together. And that gave rise to my two Senryu.
But it’s true. Not all the prompts bring the spark one needs.
This one did it for me. Thanks, Sadje.

And then I tried (from laptop) that haiku generator you wrote for. I was lost. Thanks for sharing. Xoxo

      1. Sadje

You wrote beautiful poems. Thanks for the mention too.

Very nice your poem , Selma 👍
Beautiful wearing traditional dresses & ladies wearing western dresses look a princess.
Very nice enjoyed the 21st holiday.

Selma, a beautiful poem and one can but hope these future world leaders look forward to the better good for us all and do not become not the self-serving inward looking of so many of today’s leaders (the U.K. is in a bad place at the moment!) I loved learning about the holiday and how the young dressed up in celebration – a special time for all!

Annika, my sweet. It has been a while. Happy new year to you.
Blessings. Yes. We hope these girls do good for humanity.
Be well. I wish you miracles xoxo

    I like that colorful flock.
You should have used the Random Word Generator. It just gives you a list of words to choose from, like any word prompt. Then you make the poem, adding words of your own. (K)

I will check it out at your prompting *smile* Did you try it on your laptop or phone. My comment came after trying it on a laptop, but someone else on phone got it with no difficulty. Thanks, K. xoxo

I used the ones Jane Dougherty generated–she and Merril do it on Sundays. I use neither laptop or phone. I have a desktop, also a tablet. But when I tried it I had no problem. However, as we all know, both devices and the internet can be cranky.

Thanks for letting me know, dear K. Will see how it goes. Thanks for your time. Blessings.

    Beautiful words and image, Selma!

  6. Cindy Georgakas

A lovely poem Selma, thanks for sharing the wonderful celebration 🎉

It’s a great inclusive community celebration that I like. Glad you liked hearing about this. Blessings, Cindy.

I was in Japan for the young people’s celebration on the 9th also. It was a bittersweet reminder of ancient traditions, that are slowly disappearing as the culture evolves.

    1. Selma Martin

You were? How wonderful! So glad you got to see that. Yes, the culture is evolving. Very soon the things people love/like about Japan will only be a memory relived in movies, perhaps. It’s sad. Thanks for adding to the conversation, dear one. Blessing you. Xoxo

Thanks for stopping. Comments mean the world to me. Won't you please leave one?
